House Supervisor

The House Supervisor is a clinically competent Registered Nurse who demonstrates commitment to professional development. The House Supervisor reports to the Chief Nursing Officer and acts as leadership for hospital staff in collaboration with charge nurses, department coordinators, and department managers. The House Supervisor is responsible to provide direct clinical care as assigned, and prioritized to meet organizational needs.

The House Supervisor demonstrates excellent clinical skills in emergency response and treatment, providing clinical support to departments as needed; utilizes critical thinking skills to resolve immediate clinical, ethical, and employment concerns; collaborates with all customers to provide excellent care across the continuum; promotes an atmosphere of customer centered care; has working knowledge of NOCHS policies and procedures. Responds, directs, and coordinates as appropriate according to the Safety Management Plan.

Job Status: Full Time, 72 hours per pay period

• Days, variable
• Nights, 10p-7a M-F, 7p-7a every other weekend

Minimum Skills, Experience and Educational Requirements:

1. Current RN licensure in the State of Michigan.
2. Five years recent, relevant clinical experience required, at least one year in critical care/ED preferred.
3. Current BLS, ACLS, and NRP certification.
4. PALS certification encouraged.
5. Must be able to manage and prioritize several job tasks simultaneously and be able to function under high stress situations.
6. Capable of developing positive, effective, working relationships with hospital staff, management/administration, and physicians.
7. Maintains confidentiality of patient and organizational information.
8. Capable of working independently and making judgments based on assessment and critical thinking skills.
9. Ability to be mobile, to carry out responsibilities throughout the hospital.
10. Ability to successfully complete the general orientation.
11. Ability to successfully complete unit(s) competency inventory/staff development plan.
12. Able to read, write, and speak English language effectively.

Critical Demands of the Job:

1. Ability to lift floor to waist level 15 lbs.

5. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
6. Frequent and prolonged standing and walking.
7. Frequent bending, twisting, reaching overhead, and reaching forward.
