A major global manufacturer with North American sales of $8B has a unique opportunity for a Director of Risk Management to be located in the company’s Wayne, PA headquarters, about 30 miles west of Philadelphia. This person is responsible for effectively managing the risks of all corporate entities in the US, Canada and Mexico to protect each entity’s employees, assets and operations/profits against events that could cause significant and even catastrophic unbudgeted losses. The overall objective is to minimize the total cost of risk of the entities in North America and to support the global risk management efforts at the company’s world headquarters by implementing and enforcing group policies and placing and/or assisting in placing global insurance programs. Individual is responsible for leadership and management of the corporate North American Risk Management Department with a staff of four professionals and for the delivery of risk management products and services to all of the company’s North American operations. This responsibility includes risk assessment, strategy development, management of group loss prevention policies, management and analysis of claims activities through benchmarking, cost containment insurance reserve management, advising on contractual insurance issues and risk management information systems. Individual also promotes Business Continuity Planning (BCP) and facilitates BCP implementation with the businesses. This responsibility includes placement/purchasing/management of all North American insurance programs & risk management vendors Individual is also the president of the corporation’s captive insurance company, domiciled in Vermont, and shall have general authority over the ordinary course of business of this entity. Individual participates on North American due diligence team, evaluating possible acquisitions from a risk management perspective and advising North American and/or global business managers of any issues that could impact a decision to acquire a business or that may impact purchase price considerations.

The Director of Risk Management should have strong background in finance and significant experience in risk management. Background in manufacturing operations is a strong plus. Strong analytical skills and excellent communication skills are necessary. CPA, MBA or other advanced degree a plus. Individual must demonstrate flexibility to deal with rapidly changing priorities and sensitivity to highly confidential company and employee Information.
