Adjunct Instructor - Brass Instructor, Music

Position Details:

Kilgore College is seeking a passionate and experienced Brass Instructor to join our Music Department. The ideal candidate will provide high-quality instruction to students of varying skill levels, fostering a positive and inclusive learning environment. The Brass Instructor will be responsible for teaching individual lessons to music majors and non-majors, preparing students for performances and auditions, planning and executing recitals and other performances, and contributing to the development of the music program.

Responsibilities:

• Provide individual lessons to students at different levels of proficiency
• Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the needs and goals of each student
• Prepare students for performances, auditions, and other related activities
• Evaluate student progress and provide constructive feedback to help them improve their techniques and overall performance
• Collaborate with other music faculty to plan and execute recitals, concerts, and other events
• Stay current with pedagogy and performance practices to ensure high-quality instruction
• Maintain accurate records of student attendance, progress, and achievements
• Foster a positive, inclusive, and supportive learning environment for all students

Minimum Qualifications:

• Masters in Music, or a related field, with an emphasis in Brass instruments
• Teaching experience at the college level or in a similar educational setting
• Experience performing at a professional level
• Demonstrated proficiency in a variety of styles and techniques
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to inspire and motivate students
• Commitment to student success and academic excellence

Candidates will be interviewed via zoom, and finalists will be invited to perform a teaching demonstration.

Salary Range & Fringe Benefits:

• Salary for adjunct faculty members is based upon level of education and range from $1,800 per 3-hour course for a Master's degree, up to $2,000 per 3-hour course for a doctorate. 
• Salary for private lessons provided by an adjunct instructor is $35 per hour. 
• Worker’s compensation 
• Limited Part-Time Retirement Plan

Kilgore College does not participate in the federal Social Security program.

All full-time positions are located in Kilgore, TX. No fully work from home positions are available at this time. All employees must be available to physically present to work on the Kilgore, TX or Longview, TX Campus. Some Part-Time and Adjunct positions may be offsite but the candidate MUST live in the State of Texas.

Positions will remain open until filled. Some Adjunct and Part-Time teaching positions may remain open perpetually as the need for part time instructors fluctuates with student enrollment. Teaching positions will be required to submit official transcripts upon an offer of employment. An offer of employment will be contingent upon passing a background check. Federal law prohibits the employment of unauthorized aliens. All persons hired must submit satisfactory proof of employment authorization and identity within three (3) days of being hired. Failure to submit proof within the required time shall result in immediate employment termination. All position appointments are subject to approval by the college's Board of Trustees.
