Agency: Department of Corrections Working Title: WELLNESS EDUCATION SPECIALIST I-F/C ADVERTISING TITLE: Wellness Education Specialist This open competitive advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Cross City Correctional Institution in the Education Department. Our mission in the Education Department is to provide inmates' well-being and social recovery through engaging wellness and recreational programs. We ensure a safe, supportive environment by collaborating with staff and carefully supervising activities. By assessing needs and interests, we create meaningful opportunities for personal growth and community connection. This position is not a telework position and is required to report to the FDC office in the area it serves. JOB DUTIES: Plans, runs, and oversees wellness education and recreational programs for inmates, including classroom activities and organized events. Supervises inmates during activities and ensures security coordination with medical and security staff. Assess inmate participation and interests, using this information to set goals and plan programs that support their social recovery. Maintains and tracks wellness equipment and supplies through regular monthly and quarterly inventories. Writes reports on inmate behavior when needed and organizes special events, including visits from outside groups for cultural and recreational activities.
