The ideal candidate will have a strong commitment to cultivating a love for reading and writing in students while providing rigorous instruction that develops critical thinking and analytical skills. This role requires a teacher who can create an engaging learning environment, deliver effective lessons, and use data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes.RESPONSIBILITIESPlan and deliver high-quality, standards-aligned lessons in reading, writing, and literacy that foster critical thinking and a love of literature.Incorporate diverse texts and culturally responsive teaching practices to create an inclusive classroom that reflects the experiences of all students.Use formative and summative assessments to track student progress, analyze data, and adjust instruction to meet the needs of all learners.Foster a classroom environment that promotes discussion, collaboration, and a deep appreciation for literature and the power of language.Set high expectations for student achievements and behavior, while providing appropriate support to ensure every student’s success.Establish and maintain strong communication with families to support student learning and build a strong school community.Collaborate with colleagues and academic coaches to enhance curriculum and teaching practices and to ensure alignment with school-wide goals.Embrace feedback and work with academic coaches to continuously improve instructional practices and professional development.Take ownership of your own professional growth by seeking opportunities for learning and self-improvement.Participate in school-wide events, family conferences, and professional development activities to support school culture and community.Participate actively in ongoing coaching, observation and feedback cycles, team learning, and required professional development; implement feedback and agreed-upon action steps to strengthen instructional practice.EXPECTATIONSArrive at school by 8:10 a.m.Attend professional development, including summer onboarding.Track and analyze student data regularly and attend team meetings.Fulfill all expectations outlined in the KIPP Employee Handbook.COMPETENCIESAbility to differentiate instruction to meet diverse student needs.Cultural competency and the ability to create inclusive learning environments.commitment to high expectations and opportunity and belief in the potential of all students.Demonstrates reliability, sound judgment, integrity, preparedness, and follow-through while meeting school and network expectations.Actively engages in coaching, seeks and incorporates feedback, reflects on practice, and applies learning from professional development to improve student outcomes.Qualifications Valid Indiana teaching license or in the process of applying for reciprocity with a valid out-of-state license (required).Bachelor’s degree in education or related field (required).Minimum of 2 years of teaching experience in middle school math (preferred).Experience using data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes (preferred).commitment to access and opportunity, high expectations, and the belief that all students can succeed (required).Openness to feedback and commitment to continuous improvement (required).Pass a criminal background check, as required by law (required). Additional Information Licensed teacher starting at $50,000 Salary is commensurate with experience and includes a highly competitive benefits package.
