Job Posting Title: Research Associate Hiring Department: Department of Mathematics Position Open To: All Applicants Weekly Scheduled Hours: 40 FLSA Status: Exempt from FLSA Earliest Start Date: Aug 12, 2026 Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until Aug 31, 2027 Location: UT MAIN CAMPUS Job Details General Notes Position Duration: Expected to Continue Until Aug 31, 2027 Purpose To conduct research in analysis, the calculus of variations, geometric measure theory and partial differential equations. To contribute to the mentoring of graduate students and postdocs in mathematics. Responsibilities Combine mathematical expertise with research skills to solve problems and to contribute to both theoretical advancement and practical applications of analysis. Presentation of results at scheduled meetings and at public forums. Use mathematical tools and software to analyze datasets, validate results, and interpret findings. Participating in research planning sessions, supervising and training postdocs, graduate and undergraduate students. Required Qualifications Ph.D. in a relevant area of mathematics and demonstrated experience as reflected in scientific publications. Extensive experience with research & problem solving, data analysis, collaboration, publication & presentation and modeling and stimulation. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Retirement Plan Eligibility The retirement plan for this position is Teacher Retirement System of Texas (TRS), subject to the position being at least 20 hours per week and at least 135 days in length. This position has the option to elect the Optional Retirement Program (ORP) instead of TRS, subject to the position being 40 hours per week and at least 135 days in length.
