Software Architect

Overview Lockheed Martin Space’s Next Generation Interceptor (NGI) team seeks an experienced Software Architect to develop missile defense technology and shape the integrated vision across Agile teams. Responsibilities Develop a common vision across the NGI Agile teams to deliver an integrated set of products, tools, and software components supporting SDS organizational goals. Collaborate with NGI leads (Software Integration Lead, Software Engineering Lead, Systems Engineering Lead, and product teams) to implement the common vision throughout the organization. Ensure NGI products adhere to appropriate processes and software development best practices, emphasizing software reuse, DevSecOps processes, and automation. Define, document, and communicate software architecture and designs to engineering teams. Verify and support successful implementation of architectural designs by the teams. Resolve complex technical issues across NGI teams and facilitate consensus among teams with varying goals and objectives. Provide expertise in software architecture for simulation software products. Basic Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in computer science, computer engineering, or a related engineering/technical field. Experience with Object‑Oriented Analysis and Design techniques. Experience performing software architecture for engineering teams. Proficiency in C++ and Python programming. Desired Skills Experience with real‑time software development. Experience with Agile software development methodologies. Experience with Linux and real‑time operating systems. Experience with software and systems engineering best practices. Experience with DevSecOps processes and tools. Strong oral and written communication skills. Strong interpersonal and collaboration skills. Security Clearance US citizenship is required. This position requires a Secret security clearance and the ability to obtain a government clearance. Work Schedule & Location Onsite full‑time at a designated Lockheed Martin facility. Schedule: 9x80 with every other Friday off. Occasional travel within the United States may be required. Compensation Annual base salary range: $113,900 – $200,905 (varies by location). The salary range is a guideline and may be adjusted based on location and qualifications.
