Clinic Assistant Director

Position Summary The Clinic Assistant Director is a dynamic, hands‑on leadership role responsible for ensuring that clinical services and operations are delivered with the highest standards of fidelity, quality, and customer care. This position blends clinical expertise with operational oversight, requiring the assistant director to assist in implementation of operational changes and provide direct services such as individual and group psychotherapy and psychoeducation as needed, while also supervising the overall clinical care and treatment provided at designated Mindful Health location(s). The Clinic Assistant Director plays a key role in maintaining regulatory compliance, supporting staff development, and fostering a culture of excellence in behavioral health service delivery. Education / Experience A master’s degree in social work, psychology, counseling, human development, or behavioral science field from an accredited college or university. The Clinic Assistant Director must be actively licensed (LCSW/LPC/LMFT) in the State of Texas to provide independent clinical care, treatment, and services. A minimum of 5 years’ experience in clinical assessment and diagnosis with a focus on the treatment and prevention of mental, emotional, and behavioral health challenges (preferred). Experience in a group programming setting such as Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient Services and knowledge of the group therapeutic setting. Willingness to pursue certification in valued treatment modalities. Current CPR Certification. Current CPI Certification. Job Duties Responsible for day‑to‑day clinical operations when Clinic Director is absent. Assists the Clinic Director with supervising therapists and oversees training new staff to ensure clinical integrity of programming and that regulatory standards are met. Contributes to 90‑day evaluations and annual reviews of clinical staff. Audit charts to ensure compliance in participation with the Quality Assurance/Performance Improvement Process and regulatory standards. Review charts relating to accurate and timely completion of documentation. Provide oversight of group, individual, family and couples therapists to ensure compliance with Mindful Health policies and processes. Provide group and individual psychotherapy and psychoeducation to provide coverage when needed. Conduct intake assessments and biopsychosocial assessments according to the clinic schedule. Disseminates information from Clinic Director and other leadership to therapists. Attend daily Flash meetings and complete follow‑up items presented during the meeting. Monitor clinical documentation and discharge planning to ensure regulatory compliance and clinical integrity. Lead regularly scheduled Treatment Team meetings for PHP/IOP and ensures compliance with regulatory standards and best practices. Ongoing and consistent collaboration with the interdisciplinary team including physicians, utilization review and nursing staff members. Demonstrate an understanding of utilization review and criteria for continued stay and discharge. Familiar with external referrals for individual, couples, and family therapy. Provide or assign group psychotherapy and psycho‑educational groups according to PHP/IOP program schedule. Monitors to ensure completion of biopsychosocial assessment, treatment plan updates, and History and Physical exams within assigned time frame of admission to PHP/IOP. Provide clinical support to staff weekly and as needed. Lead in developing the interdisciplinary treatment plan, with clients in PHP/IOP programming, outlining focus for treatment, goals, and interventions. Document all clinical encounters with individuals, couples, families, and groups clearly and concisely, demonstrating the therapeutic process. Ensure ongoing evaluation of clients’ diagnosis, psychosocial stressors, strengths, and opportunities for growth. Ensure the evaluation of clients’ progress using identified outcome measures and adjust treatment plan accordingly. Assist client and family with PHP/IOP discharge planning, including community resources and referrals. Evaluate day‑to‑day programming with other clinicians to ensure quality care. Provide excellent customer service to clients and staff. Ensures client satisfaction and participates in addressing complaints and grievances, as they arise. Conduct community groups to promote healthy lifestyles and wellness in the community. Maintain a positive, professional image in the office and in the community. Participate in QA/QI process, ensuring that services are evidence‑based. Maintain regular work hours, being on time and managing time well. Demonstrates personal characteristics of patience, tact, cheerfulness and enthusiasm toward the administration and clients. Must be able to appropriately respond to all types of behavior. Any additional duties that facilitate the effective operations of the programs and services provided. Knowledge and Skills Knowledge and experience of the therapeutic milieu. Knowledge and experience in Partial Hospitalization and Intensive Outpatient treatment settings. Understanding of payer regulations for PHP and IOP programs. Understanding of the Utilization Review process as it relates to PHP/IOP prior authorization and necessity for continued stay. Skilled in facilitating Process Groups, Psychoeducational Groups, Life Skills groups, etc. Knowledge of Joint Commission as well as state and federal regulations related to care, treatment, and services. Knowledge of HIPAA, and other laws applicable to mental health services. Knowledge of continuous process improvement concepts and practices. Emotional intelligence and empathy, as demonstrated by the ability to identify with and understand another person’s point of view and ask the right questions to determine the focus for treatment. Communication, as demonstrated by the ability to clearly convey, both verbally and in writing, detailed directions, describe processes in understandable terms, and concise documentation of the therapeutic process. Active listening skills, as demonstrated by interpreting verbal and non‑verbal cues to determine the focus for treatment as well as understanding information from colleagues and other mental health professionals. Critical thinking skills, as demonstrated by using creative problem‑solving as part of the therapeutic process to find the best available options for clients. Organizational skills, as demonstrated by making sure each case is updated in a timely manner with the correct information and cases are prioritized based on client needs. Cultural competency, as demonstrated by being sensitive to diverse ideas, views, and beliefs, seeking to learn more about others while understanding one’s own background and beliefs. Appropriate boundary setting, as demonstrated by maintaining boundaries in the therapeutic relationship, as well as with colleagues and other customers but also in establishing a good work‑life balance. Professionalism, as demonstrated by constantly learning and developing better ways to serve clients and the community. Using knowledge gained to improve services with clients, families, and groups. Time management, as demonstrated by giving clients the attention they need both in interpersonal interaction but also in completing documentation in a timely manner. Advocacy, as demonstrated by verbally representing clients in connecting with services, resources, and opportunities, especially for clients who may not know how to advocate for themselves.
