Senior Appraisal Reviewer – Overview Department of Economic Development and Planning seeks a Senior Appraisal Reviewer to review appraisal reports, assess fair market value, and maintain county appraisal standards. The role may involve court testimony and presentation before the Environmental Trust Review Board. Responsibilities Review appraisal reports to ensure highest fair market value and compliance with county procedures, standards, methods, and concepts. Analyze qualitative data, conduct property inspection, verify comparable sales data, and inspect all comparable sales. Consult with appraisers on reports lacking essential elements and recommend additional or supplemental appraisals. Prepare professional visual‑aid materials for presentation before the Environmental Trust Review Board. May testify in courts within NewYork State. Analyze and evaluate appraisals continuously. Qualifications Bachelor’s degree from a federally‑authorized college or university with NY State registration and at least 7 years of real‑property appraisal experience, including 3 years in management; OR Sixty credit hours from a federally‑authorized college or university with NY State registration, 9 years of real‑property appraisal experience, including 3 years in management. Required Licenses & Certifications Certified by NewYorkState as a General Real Estate Appraiser at the time of appointment and for the duration of employment. Valid NewYork State driver’s license. Provisional Appointment This position begins as a provisional appointment. To attain permanent status, the employee must take the next examination for the position and rank among the top three passing candidates willing to accept the role.
