RN - Emergency Dept Schedule: 2 × 12‑hour shifts per week (Part‑time nights). Sign‑on bonus available up to $5 K. Location Piedmont Eastside Medical Center – Emergency Department. Overview The department is a 38‑bed emergency unit that averages 160 patients per day, including primary stroke and STEMI receiving capabilities with thrombolytic administration. Two helicopter pads are available and the unit is organized into five patient‑care areas (PODs) based on acuity, with a separate behavioral health pod. Staff includes charge nurses, ED flow coordinators, paramedics, ED techs, PCTs, mental health technicians, and unit secretaries who collaborate closely with ED providers. All staff must hold a current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification. Responsibilities The staff nurse provides nursing care to patients from birth through the life cycle utilizing nursing processes to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate care. Responsibilities include maintaining standards of practice, coordinating care activities of all assigned staff, and ensuring high‑quality patient care. Essential Functions Perform patient assessments, including collection of physical, psychosocial, and health history data. Evaluate developmental age and adapt assessments, treatments, and education accordingly. Organize patient data to formulate care plans, identify additional information needed, and make care decisions based on identified needs. Execute plans of care to achieve desired outcomes. Provide patient care appropriate to the setting and severity of the condition. Oversee activities of ancillary and support team members. Identify teaching opportunities and supply resources for patient education. Communicate concerns to charge nurse, clinical manager, and/or physician as appropriate. Document patient care and concerns in the patient record. Bachelor’s degree – preferred. Work Experience No experience required; new graduates of a nursing program eligible – required. Nursing experience in a hospital setting – preferred. 1 year in a hospital setting for PRN positions – required. Licenses & Certifications RN – Registered Nurse with Georgia state licensure and/or NLC/eNCL Multistate licensure (current license in Georgia) – required. BCLS – Basic Life Support – required. Additional Certifications Advanced certification in field of specialty (if applicable) – see addendum. Additional Required Certifications (Addendum) Cardiac Tele: ACLS – must complete within 6 months of start date. Critical Care: ACLS – must complete within 6 months of start date. Dialysis: CDN – preferred. Emergency Department: ACLS and PALS – must complete within 6 months of start date. Infusion/Oncology: Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification – required at hire. Pediatrics: PALS – required within 6 months of start date. Surgical Services: Pre‑Op/PACU/ENDO/CSU ACLS; BLS – must complete within 6 months of start date.
