Academic Instructor

Position Location: Recruit Training Command (RTC), Naval Station Great Lakes, IL.

Description:

MES, LLC is seeking Academic Instructors to provide classroom instruction, tutoring, study hall support, and individualized academic assistance for the Navy Future Sailor Preparatory Course. Instructors support Future Sailors in improving academic performance and ASVAB-related test scores using Government-approved curriculum and instructional methods.

Duties:

• Provide classroom instruction in mathematics and/or verbal subject areas.
• Deliver virtual instruction to Delayed Entry Program (DEP) personnel as assigned.
• Conduct tutoring sessions and study hall support activities.
• Administer and grade tests and quizzes.
• Maintain student academic records and documentation.
• Support individualized remediation and academic improvement efforts.
• Apply approved instructional methods and curriculum.
• Maintain a professional classroom and learning environment.
• Participate in instructor certification, evaluations, training, and quality assurance activities.
• Protect student records and comply with privacy, CUI, and security requirements.
• Utilize Government-provided instructional technology and equipment.
• Coordinate with the Site Lead and Curriculum Developers to support student success.

Education:
Bachelor's degree in mathematics education, reading education, or a closely related field from an accredited institution. Master's degree preferred.

Experience:

Minimum three (3) years of experience in adult or young-adult education. Experience teaching mathematics, reading, literacy, or academic remediation programs required. Must have completed instructor training or possess an academic teaching credential.

Qualifications:

• Shall be able to read, write, speak, enunciate clearly, and fully comprehend the English language.
• The minimum education and experience required to perform these services/tasks include a bachelor's degree in any area of study and a Teaching Certificate from any state or a master's degree in any area of study. The degree must be from a college or university that is accredited by a national or regional accredited agency recognized by the U.S. Department of Education.
• End-user instructional experience in Distance Learning (DL) or formal training.
• DL for the sites involved in DL and the ability to assist students with DL curriculum and with DL technical equipment is required along with a demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office computer programs.
• Minimum of two (2) years relevant experience consisting of at least one (1) year experience in individualized or classroom instruction, including prescriptive remediation of skills in the areas of Math, Reading, English Grammar, Science, Writing, Language Arts, or oral and written communication.
• A National Agency Check with Investigation (NACI) is required for this position.
• Must be able to qualify for a secret clearance.
