Freight Broker

LS Nexus, LLC is looking to add a Freight Broker to our team.

Duties:

• Contact by phone, email, text, etc. owner operators & small fleets for capacity availability. 
• Schedule pickups & deliveries for the load & trucks.
• Assign & dispatch loads via TMS to trucks & carriers as negotiated.
• Oversee driver progress on loads. 
• Communicate with shippers & receivers for truck scheduling & possible changes.
• Call external truckers for load availability. 
• Contact shippers to solicit additional loads & needs. 
• Organize routing to accommodate customer & driver needs.
• Manage driver/fleet owner relationships.
• Make load assignment changes as needs require. 
• Accurately report updates in dispatch system. 
• Other duties as assigned. 

Schedule:

• Work Monday through Friday 8am-5pm in office in Cedar Rapids, IA and occasionally be on call. 

Abilities/Skills Required:

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, while delegating needs, ability to handle a fast pace work environment, ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks at the same time, ability to isolate and solve problems efficiently. 
• Critical reasoning skills and aptitude to get factual information and utilize that information.
• Must be able to see the big picture and put solutions together for our customers and truckers. 
• Computer experience necessary, Windows and Excel or similar programs. 
• Use mathematics to make decisions. 
• Learn and use salesmanship skills.
• Multi-lingual a plus.
