Contract | Night Shift | 12-Hour Shifts (7:00 PM – 7:00 AM) | Every other weekend required (Friday/Saturday for nights) | Every other holiday required

Key Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care in a 20-bed, all-private, fully monitored cardiovascular ICU with patient ratios of 1:1, 1:2, or 2:1 depending on acuity
• Care for a complex patient population including post open-heart surgical patients (CABG, valve repair/replacement, dissections, AAA, vascular procedures, carotids), STEMI, cardiogenic shock, cardiomyopathy, severe heart failure, TAVRs, ventilated patients, and ICU overflow patients
• Manage and titrate multiple vasoactive and sedation drips simultaneously, including dopamine, dobutamine, levophed, epinephrine, vasopressin, cleviprex, propofol, fentanyl, midazolam, insulin, heparin, and esmolol
• Operate and troubleshoot specialty intervention equipment including IABPs, Impella devices, Swan-Ganz catheters, ECMO, external pacemakers, CRRT, and ventilators (including CPAP, BiPAP, heated high flow, and nitric oxide)
• Manage invasive lines including PICC, midlines, CVCs, Swan-Ganz catheters, and arterial lines (radial and femoral); independently read and interpret cardiac monitor strips using Philips monitoring systems
• Float to all levels of care as needed; travelers are expected to assume a full patient team assignment

Required Qualifications

• Active RN licensure in Illinois or compact state eligibility
• Minimum 2 years of CVICU experience required ; candidates must be able to function independently from day one without unit-specific training for equipment or patient population
• BLS certification required
• Proficiency in cardiovascular ICU skills including swan management, arterial lines, CVCs, temporary pacemakers, IABP, drip titration, and ventilator management
• Strong cardiac strip interpretation, critical thinking, assessment skills, and ability to perform in a high-acuity, fast-paced environment

Preferred Experience / Skills

• ACLS certification preferred
• CCRN certification is a plus
• Experience with immediate post-operative cardiac surgical patients
• Prior experience with VAD management or cardiac transplant patients
