Master's Degree in Speech-Language Pathology or Communication Disorders from an accredited institution.
Description:
The Speech-Language Pathologist (SLP) is responsible for assessing, diagnosing, and treating students in grades K-12 with communication disorders.
The SLP serves as both a direct service provider and consultant to educators, families, and teams.
The goal is to ensure students receive appropriate interventions and support services.
These services allow students to access and succeed in their educational environment.
The SLP supports the mission by helping students with communication disorders make meaningful progress.
The focus is on developing skills necessary for successful and independent lives.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Conduct speech-language screenings, evaluations, and re-evaluations.
Assess students referred for suspected communication impairments.
Observe students and collect educational, developmental, and behavioral data.
Review educational records, teacher reports, and parent input during evaluations.
Determine eligibility for services in accordance with state and federal regulations.
Prepare comprehensive evaluation reports and recommendations.
Develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs).
Establish measurable communication goals and objectives.
Participate in Admission, Review, and Dismissal (ARD) meetings.
Present evaluation findings and recommendations to families and educational teams.
Monitor student progress toward IEP goals.
Revise interventions as needed.
Ensure compliance with required educational regulations.
Provide individual and group speech-language therapy services.
Deliver evidence-based interventions targeting various communication disorders.
Document therapy sessions and student progress accurately.
Maintain service logs and clinical records.
Develop classroom-based intervention strategies when appropriate.
Serve as a resource for teachers, parents, and staff regarding communication development.
Collaborate with special education professionals and related service providers.
Support teachers in differentiating instruction for students with communication challenges.
Provide recommendations for classroom accommodations and instructional supports.
Assist families in understanding communication disorders and available services.
Knowledge of assessment tools and intervention techniques is essential.
Understanding of compliance requirements in special education is important.
Strong written and verbal communication skills are necessary.
Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams is critical.
Strong organizational and documentation skills are required.
Ability to manage evaluations, therapy schedules, and compliance timelines is essential.
A commitment to equity, inclusion, and student-centered practices is vital.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to provide services in classroom and school environments.
Ability to move between campuses when necessary.
Ability to use educational technology and electronic documentation systems.
