Senior Instrumentation Coordinator - East Hospital

Job Overview The Senior Instrumentation Coordinator prepares, sterilizes, installs, assembles, and cleans all clinic or healthcare equipment required for surgeries, examinations, and medical procedures. The Coordinator ensures that equipment, instruments, and supplies can be reused safely to prevent infections, and that sterilized, appropriately functioning medical supplies and instrumentation are packaged and delivered aseptically to the point of use. They also serve as a clinical liaison between the Operating Rooms and the CSS offsite location to track and allocate sterilized instrumentation across the Enterprise, and are responsible for procuring and standardizing instrument trays across the Enterprise. The position is utilized 24/7 in multiple reprocessing sites, including Ross Heart Hospital, University Hospital, James Cancer Hospital, Same Day Surgery, University Hospital East, and all Ambulatory sites. Coordination and oversight of daily activities between the Operating Room and Sterile Processing Departments facilitate efficient case flow through case cart assembly and decontamination, assembly, and sterilization/high‑level disinfection of all reprocessed surgical inventory. The Coordinator also assists in projects and process improvement, promotes customer service and patient satisfaction through effective communication with operating room clinical operations, and orders, procures, and organizes instrument trays on a global level to service the entire Enterprise. Minimum Qualifications High school graduate or possessing a G.E.D. At least two years of experience as an instrument processor or Surgical Technologist. Certified Registered Central Service Technician (CRCST) certification issued through IAHCSMM or Certified Sterile Processing and Distribution Technician (CSPDT) certification issued through CBSPD required upon hire, or must obtain certification within 6 months of hire. Responsibilities Coordinate and oversee daily activities between the Operating Room and Sterile Processing Departments to facilitate efficient case flow. Assemble case carts and decontaminate, assemble, and sterilize or high‑level disinfect all reprocessed surgical inventory. Serve as a clinical liaison, track and allocate sterilized instrumentation across the Enterprise, and standardize instrument trays enterprise-wide. Assist in projects and process improvement initiatives, promote customer service and patient satisfaction through effective communication, and order, procure, and organize instrument trays globally.
