High School Student Support Specialist Job Posting: Guidance Counselors - 2 open positions Location: Hastings High School Position Type: Full-Time Start Date: August 2026 Application Deadline: May 21, 2026 The Hastings Area School System is seeking a dedicated, organized, and student-centered individual to serve as a High School Student Support Specialist at Hastings High School for the 2026–2027 school year. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication and organizational skills, a passion for supporting students, and the ability to build positive relationships with students, families, and staff. This position will play a key role in supporting student academic success, graduation planning, college and career readiness, and post‑secondary opportunities, including Early Middle College and Dual Enrollment programming. Primary Responsibilities Assist students with academic planning and course scheduling Monitor student progress toward graduation requirements Coordinate and support Early Middle College programming Coordinate Dual Enrollment opportunities with local colleges and universities Meet with students and families regarding academic progress and post-secondary planning Collaborate with counselors, teachers, administrators, and support staff to support student success Assist students with college and career readiness planning Support students with credit recovery and alternative pathways to graduation Maintain accurate student records and documentation Assist with state reporting and compliance related to student programming Participate in student support and intervention meetings as needed Preferred Qualifications Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred Valid Michigan teaching certificate, school counselor license, or related certification preferred Experience working in a school setting Knowledge of Michigan graduation requirements, dual enrollment, and Early Middle College programs preferred Strong interpersonal, organizational, and technology skills Ability to work collaboratively with staff, students, families, and community partners Desired Characteristics Student-focused and relationship-driven Strong problem-solving and communication skills Ability to maintain confidentiality Detail-oriented and highly organized Commitment to helping all students succeed #J-18808-Ljbffr Sylvania
