ROXBOX is seeking an Engineering Manager / Professional Engineer to lead our design and engineering function for steel-frame modular and shipping container projects. You’ll guide a team of architects and designers, establish technical direction, and follow projects from design through fabrication—ensuring what we draw can actually be built.

This isn’t a purely theoretical engineering role. You’ll work directly with the people designing, fabricating, and delivering the finished product.

What You’ll Do

• Lead and develop a design team of approximately 4–10 architects and designers, including remote team members
• Establish technical direction, priorities, standards, and accountability across active projects
• Review designs and drawings for accuracy, constructability, materials, sequencing, installation, and code compliance
• Apply Design for Manufacturing and Assembly (DFMA) principles to improve project execution
• Work directly with Production to resolve design and engineering questions during fabrication
• Coordinate with clients and internal teams to translate project requirements into practical technical solutions
• Identify and solve design, fabrication, and construction issues before they become field problems
• Improve engineering and design processes to increase consistency, quality, and efficiency as ROXBOX scales

What Makes You a Strong Fit

• 5+ years of engineering and design experience, ideally within modular construction, manufacturing, steel fabrication, or design-build environments
• Licensed Professional Engineer (PE), with the ability to obtain licensure in multiple states; existing multi-state licensure strongly preferred. ROXBOX can assist with obtaining additional state licenses as needed.
• Structural and MEP experience strongly preferred
• Strong understanding of constructability, fabrication, and real-world building conditions
• Able to create, interpret, review, and improve detailed technical drawings
• Comfortable making technical decisions independently while clearly communicating the reasoning behind them
• Experience leading technical teams, delegating work, setting priorities, and maintaining accountability
• Strong communication across design, shop, field, client, and leadership teams

Compensation & Details

• Full-time, salaried leadership position with benefits
• Monday–Friday with occasional after-hours coordination as needed
• On-site in Houston, TX (77041)
• Compensation: $115,000–$160,000, based on experience and current state licensure
