Our Mission Inspiring all women to climb the economic opportunity ladder. Our Values Innovate Collaborate Invite Joy Promote Self-Determination Uphold Equity Position Summary The Manager of Career Development leads Rung’s Career Development coaching team, the staff responsible for supporting members through the first half of the core program. Career Development coaches work with members on the personal and professional foundations that make career success possible: career exploration and goal clarity, mindset and confidence development, persistence and self-efficacy, and preparation for the career attainment phase. This role manages two Career Development Coaches, maintains a personal coaching caseload of 13 –15 members, and plays an active role in welcoming and orienting new members into the program. The Manager of Career Development reports to the Director of Core Program and is the operational owner of Career Development coaching quality, team performance, and outcomes within the core program. This role is a peer to the Manager of Career Attainment and the Manager of Training & Development, and works closely with both to ensure a seamless member experience across the full program arc. How You’ll Contribute Career Development Coaching is where the most deeply personal work of Rung’s program happens—and it’s the foundation everything else is built on. This role ensures that members arrive at the career attainment phase with a clear career goal, and equally importantly, the confidence, mindset, and persistence to pursue it. By leading a team that does developmental work with members early in the program, the Manager of Career Development shapes how members show up for the rest of their time at Rung—and how they show up for themselves. A member who has worked through limiting beliefs, built self-efficacy, and developed strong habits in the Career Development phase is a fundamentally different candidate for the Career Attainment team to work with. This role makes that possible. Key Responsibilities 1. Team Leadership & Management Build and lead a high-performing team of Career Development Coaches who deliver consistent, quality coaching experiences and are supported to grow in their expertise and effectiveness. People & Culture Directly manage two Career Development Coaches; conduct regular one-on-ones and team meetings, set clear goals, and support professional development Develop coaches’ career development content knowledge, coaching skills, and ability to support members through career exploration, goal-setting, mindset development, and early program engagement Build a team culture grounded in Rung’s values, genuine care for members, and continuous learning; model the coaching practices and professional norms the team is expected to embody Facilitate regular team alignment sessions to prepare coaches for upcoming member experiences, review trends in member progress, and share learning across the team Identify training gaps for team members and work with the Director, Core Program and Senior Director of Program Implementation to establish to resolve Operational Accountability Set priorities and goals for the Career Development team; track and report on key indicators of coaching quality, member engagement, and development outcomes Ensure accurate and timely data entry by the team in Salesforce, including attendance, coaching notes, and milestone data; monitor data quality and address gaps proactively Manage team scheduling and capacity across member caseloads, group sessions, orientation responsibilities, and supporting facilitation commitments Member Accountability Process Ensure Career Development Coaches understand and consistently execute their role in Rung’s member accountability process—including timely documentation, accurate tracker updates, and appropriate communication with other member‑facing staff about individual member situations Monitor the team’s execution of accountability processes; identify and address gaps in approach, consistency, timeliness, or documentation quality Serve as the communication hub for Career Development-related member accountability information—synthesizing what the team is seeing and escalating member situations that require the Director of Core Program’s attention or involvement 2. Career Development Coaching Vision & Quality Serve as the team’s expert on career development coaching practice—ensuring that the coaching vision set by the Senior Director of Program Implementation is consistently understood and executed across the Career Development team, and that practice-level improvements are identified and implemented as needed. Coaching Standards & Consistency Ensure Career Development Coaches deliver services in alignment with Rung’s coaching vision and the codified career development program model, including individual coaching, group coaching, and co-facilitation of weekly learning sessions Regularly observe and assess coaching quality across the team; use observation findings, member feedback, and outcomes data to identify strengths and areas for development Prepare coaches for upcoming member experiences through team alignment, content review, and skills practice Maintain and curate resources related to career exploration, mindset development, industry information, and professional development that coaches can draw on in their work with members Practice‑Level Continuous Improvement Monitor Career Development coaching outcomes on a regular cadence; identify patterns that signal a need for practice‑level adjustment within the team Lead practice-level improvements to Career Development coaching delivery—implementing changes that strengthen quality within the scope of the existing program model Distinguish between practice-level issues that can be resolved within the team and model-level gaps that warrant escalation to the Director of Core Program Document coaching practice adjustments and contribute findings to the program’s broader continuous improvement and outcomes tracking efforts 3. Direct Member Coaching Maintain an active member caseload, delivering the same high-quality Career Development coaching the team provides—modeling strong coaching practice and maintaining direct connection to the member experience. Carry a personal coaching caseload of 13–15 members (approximately 40% of time), providing small group and individual career development coaching across career exploration, goal-setting, mindset and confidence development, professional identity, and preparation for the career attainment phase Serve as a supporting facilitator for specified weekly sessions during the Define and Build stages of the program Maintain accurate and timely Salesforce records for all members on personal caseload, including session notes, milestone tracking, and outcome data Use direct coaching experience to stay grounded in members’ needs and challenges; bring those insights into team development and practice improvement efforts 4. New Member Onboarding & Orientation Lead the Career Development team’s role in welcoming new members into Rung’s program—ensuring that new members arrive prepared, informed, and ready to engage, and that their first experience of Rung reflects the organization’s values. Orientation In coordination with the Program Experience team, oversee the team’s execution of pre-program-start communications with accepted members—ensuring timely delivery of reminders, preparation materials, and logistical information that set members up to arrive ready on day one Lead the Career Development team’s preparation for and participation in each cohort’s orientation day; collaborate with the Manager, Training & Development to serve as supporting facilitators for other portions of the day as assigned Directly facilitate or co-facilitate Career Development breakout session(s) during orientation Early Engagement Ensure the Career Development team provides strong early engagement and relationship-building with new members in the first weeks of the program—establishing the coaching relationships and member habits that support long‑term program participation Monitor new member engagement patterns closely in the early program period; flag concerns early and coordinate with the Director of Core Program and other member‑facing staff to support members who may be at risk of disengaging 5. Cross-Team Coordination Partner actively with peer managers and program functions to ensure a seamless member experience across the full program arc—particularly at the transition point between the Career Development and Career Attainment phases. Coordinate with the Manager of Career Attainment to ensure smooth member transitions from the Career Development phase into Career Attainment—sharing relevant member context, flagging concerns, and aligning on timing and handoff processes Partner with the Manager of Training & Development on scheduling, co-facilitation, and member-facing coordination across shared program components Participate in cross-team planning and alignment as directed by the Director of Core Program; contribute Career Development perspective to broader program coordination conversations Coordinate with the Program Experience vertical on member-facing communications and recognition touchpoints relevant to the Career Development phase What You Bring Passion for Rung’s vision and mission Experience in career coaching, workforce development, adult education, or a related field—with demonstrated knowledge of career exploration, professional development, and coaching practices ICF ACC credential preferred, achievement of Life Coach certification within one year of start date Demonstrated ability to support clients or participants through mindset and confidence challenges, not just skill-building—comfortable with the deeper personal development work that precedes career action Knowledge of the GROW coaching model or a comparable coaching framework; formal coaching training or certification preferred Experience managing or leading a team, with a coaching-oriented approach to staff development Strong relational skills; ability to build trust quickly with members who are new to the program and navigating significant personal and professional transitions Understanding of the workforce landscape for women, including systemic barriers to economic mobility and non‑traditional career pathways Comfort using data to monitor outcomes, assess coaching quality, and identify where adjustments are needed Strong organizational skills; able to manage a personal caseload, a team, and multiple operational responsibilities simultaneously Collaborative and proactive communicator; comfortable coordinating across functions and raising issues or insights to the right people at the right time Demonstrated experience working with individuals from diverse backgrounds, with a genuine commitment to equity Familiarity with CRM systems (Salesforce preferred) and standard productivity tools Why Rung for Women?
