Position Summary

The Quality Records Auditor- Donor Records is responsible for auditing organ and/or tissue donor records to ensure quality assurance and compliance and for internal and external sharing of donor records.

Essential Functions

  • Must be able to effectively operate Google suite applications as well as learn and adopt computer skills to effectively utilize and communicate within programs such as LOPA’s electronic donor record and various hospital electronic medical records systems.
  • Must be able to effectively and professionally communicate via different media including, but not limited to, verbal, written and digital media. Communication may be both for internal and external audiences.
  • Must be able to utilize current organizational resources for procedural compliance to determine next steps in the process.
  • Must be able to apply reasonable clinical judgment while adhering to established algorithms to guide and determine appropriate courses of action.

Job Role Expectations

  • Perform audits of organ and tissue donor records using established work instructions and checklists to ensure documentation is complete and accurate, and in compliance with CMS, OPTN, FDA, and AATB regulations.
  • Using established work instructions and checklists, identify and document discrepancies in expected documentation.
  • Identify staff responsible for resolution. Collaborate with staff and/or department leadership for resolution.
  • Share donor records with internal and external customers per protocol.
  • Maintain required documentation in LOPA’s electronic donor record.
  • Maintain access to hospital electronic medical record systems.
  • Participate in internal and external audits as required.
  • Collaborate with department leaders, tissue banks, and quality partners to coordinate workflows.
  • Proactively identify and report improvement opportunities. Support Quality improvement initiatives as required.

Work Environment

  • Possible exposure to communicable diseases, bloodborne pathogens, airborne illnesses, hazardous materials, pharmacological agents with little likelihood of harm if established health precautions are followed.
  • May, at times, have exposure to blood, packaged organs and tissues for transplant and/or research in a hospital setting or while in the office.
  • Work is done indoors in an office setting.

Physical Demands

  • Sedentary work that primarily involves sitting, some opportunities for standing work and breaks.

Work Hours

  • Monday through Friday 8:00 am – 4:30 pm.
  • This position follows a hybrid work arrangement. Employees may be eligible to work remotely 1–2 days per week, subject to business needs, performance, and manager approval.
  • The QRA-Donor Charts will participate in weekend rotation for post-case reporting. Weekend coverage varies based on staffing.
  • No expectation of overtime. Holiday rotation coverage is expected in this role.
Requirements:

Education and Experience

  • Preferred: Bachelor of Science in Nursing, Health Care Administration, Public Health or Allied Health Field in lieu of preferred degrees with relevant experience.
  • Coursework or formal training in healthcare quality assurance, performance improvement, regulatory compliance, or risk management preferred.
  • Working knowledge of CMS, OPTN, FDA, and AATB regulations and standards preferred.

  • Ability to read, write, and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to solve problems.
  • Must be able to type and use 10-key touch.
  • Working knowledge of Google applications.
  • Data entry skills.
  • Knowledge of medical terminology.
  • Knowledge of structures, systems, and services of LOPA.
  • Ability to be flexible in a dynamic work environment.
  • Ability to see the organizational goals as they relate to the “big picture”.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.
