Assess students with speech or language disorders, diagnose and identify disorders, and determine eligibility for services. Serve as case manager for all SLI only students. As part of a team, develop and implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs). Determine speech and language goals and objectives. Develop speech and language treatment plans. Provide appropriate individual and group therapy to students consistent with speech/language goals in the IEP. Maintain records to provide written documentation of services provided and student progress. Evaluate student progress and determine readiness for termination of therapy services. Travel between sites, as assigned, to perform therapeutic activities. Supervise Speech-Language Pathology Assistants. Perform additional duties as assigned. Qualifications and Requirements Bachelor’s or Master’s Degree from an accredited institution in Speech Pathology or Communication Disorders. Certificate from ADE and ADHS required. CFY or CCC from ASHA preferred. Two years of school-based experience preferred. Outstanding oral and written communication skills. Ability to work independently and establish and maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with district staff and site team members. Ability to contribute and participate in the assessment, intervention and documentation process. Demonstrated proficiency in computer software programs including all Microsoft applications. Valid IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card. Language Skills Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Mathematical Skills Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry. Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Reasoning Ability Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. Basic Skills Ability and competence to maintain positive rapport and composure with parents, students, staff, and the general public. Ability and competence to operate general office equipment and job-related software. Ability and competence to work within specific time frames and be detail oriented. Ability and competence to both lead and serve as a team member. Physical Demands Regularly required to talk and hear; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and reach with hands and arms. Frequently required to stand, walk, bend, and sit; occasionally required to climb or balance and stoop or kneel. Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
