OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION

Reports to: Special Education Director and/or assigned supervisor



Qualifications: Credentials from State licensing agency.


Master's Degree Experience preferred.



Primary Goal: Provide diagnostic assessment and therapy services to students with disabilities. Develop and implement appropriate goals and objectives and provide training as appropriate.


Performance Effectiveness: Instructional Program and Supports

1. Identify and evaluate children with disabilities who need PT services to benefit from specialized instruction.
2. Write evaluation reports within timelines
3. Conduct initial evaluations, annual and 3 year reevaluations within timelines.
4. Develop specialized Physical Therapy plan of care, including IEP Goals and Objective for students eligible to receive PT services.
5. Attend and/or provide information to the ARD/IEP committee as appropriate.
6. Determine appropriate evaluation instruments, equipment, and other supplies necessary to provide PT intervention and communicate needs to Director, campus administrator, and/or case manager as appropriate.
7. Assist in maintaining supplies and equipment in supplies inventory
8. Organize, gather physician form, schedule and conduct therapy as determined by the ARD/IEP.
9. Consult with teachers, staff, and parents as needed regarding therapeutic techniques and strategies.
10. Submit schedules or reports as requested including medicaid and inventory reporting .
11. Provide accurate and current written progress documentation.
12. Maintain knowledge of required state and federal regulations.
13. Assist with campus staff development as requested in areas of expertise.
14. Conduct duties within required timelines.
15. Maintain accurate and current knowledge of Texas Physical Therapy Practice Act and Rules practiced in accordance with updated rules and regulations.
16. Supervise Physical Therapy Assistant(s) in accordance to the Texas Physical Therapy Practice Act and Rules.
17. Provide Physical Therapy intervention to children who have been determined to qualify for school-based intervention

1. Assist parents and students regarding techniques and strategies.
2. Collaborate with local agencies, medical or other professionals as needed.
3. Assist with Child Find as requested.
4. Assist the special education director in assigned duties.
