OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION Reports to: Special Education Director and/or assigned supervisor
Qualifications: Credentials from State licensing agency.
Master's Degree Experience preferred.
Primary Goal: Provide diagnostic assessment and therapy services to students with disabilities. Develop and implement appropriate goals and objectives and provide training as appropriate.

OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST ASSISTANT JOB DESCRIPTION Reports to: Special Education Director and/or assigned supervisor
Qualifications: Credentials from State licensing agency.
Master's Degree Experience preferred.
Primary Goal: Provide diagnostic assessment and therapy services to students with disabilities. Develop and implement appropriate goals and objectives and provide training as appropriate.
Performance Effectiveness: Instructional Program and Supports
- Identify and evaluate children with disabilities who need PT services to benefit from specialized instruction.
- Write evaluation reports within timelines
- Conduct initial evaluations, annual and 3 year reevaluations within timelines.
- Develop specialized Physical Therapy plan of care, including IEP Goals and Objective for students eligible to receive PT services.
- Attend and/or provide information to the ARD/IEP committee as appropriate.
- Determine appropriate evaluation instruments, equipment, and other supplies necessary to provide PT intervention and communicate needs to Director, campus administrator, and/or case manager as appropriate.
- Assist in maintaining supplies and equipment in supplies inventory
- Organize, gather physician form, schedule and conduct therapy as determined by the ARD/IEP.
- Consult with teachers, staff, and parents as needed regarding therapeutic techniques and strategies.
- Submit schedules or reports as requested including medicaid and inventory reporting .
- Provide accurate and current written progress documentation.
- Maintain knowledge of required state and federal regulations.
- Assist with campus staff development as requested in areas of expertise.
- Conduct duties within required timelines.
- Maintain accurate and current knowledge of Texas Physical Therapy Practice Act and Rules practiced in accordance with updated rules and regulations.
- Supervise Physical Therapy Assistant(s) in accordance to the Texas Physical Therapy Practice Act and Rules.
- Provide Physical Therapy intervention to children who have been determined to qualify for school-based intervention
- Assist parents and students regarding techniques and strategies.
- Collaborate with local agencies, medical or other professionals as needed.
- Assist with Child Find as requested.
- Assist the special education director in assigned duties.
- Take initiative to assist student, parent, or teacher as appropriate.
- Works in harmony with peers and associates.
- Responds to suggestions for improvement in a positive manner.
- Displays professionalism in dealing with students, parents, staff, and community.
- Is punctual.
- Maintains good attendance.
- Maintains a professional appearance.
- Mentally alert and physically able to perform the job functions.
- Displays self-control and tact.
- Collaborates in problem solving.
- Follows district guidelines as instructed including confidentiality of student records.
- Seeks professional growth through continuing education and staff development.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
