Private Banking Director | New York City
\n$180K Base | $400K+ Target OTE | Equity | Hybrid, 3–4 Days/Week in Office
\n \nShields Group Search is partnering with a rapidly growing, early-stage company building the next generation of private banking infrastructure for registered investment advisors and the independent wealth channel.
\n \nOur client provides institutional-grade banking and lending solutions across securities-based lending, structured notes, residential mortgages, commercial real estate, premium finance, fine art lending, fund finance, deposits, and more. Its platform connects advisors, lenders, and clients through a unified, AI-powered infrastructure designed to deliver private banking at scale.
\nThey are building something new in wealth management and are looking for a Private Banking Director to help define it.
\n \nThe Role
\nThe Private Banking Director is a senior, relationship-driven role that owns the full client and advisor lifecycle, from sourcing and structuring new opportunities through implementation, ongoing relationship management, and long-term growth.
\nThis is not a pure origination role .
\nYou will be the primary point of contact for assigned advisor firms and their clients, responsible for the entire private banking experience from the first conversation to funded transaction to retention and expansion.
\nYou bring deep expertise across banking, cash management, and broad lending, including credit, mortgage, and deposits, and know how to translate that expertise into meaningful outcomes for advisors and their high-net-worth clients.
\nYou are equally comfortable in a boardroom with firm leadership and on a call with a client structuring a complex transaction.
\n \nWhat You'll Do
\nRelationship Management & Business Development
\n• Own the end-to-end client and advisor relationship for assigned partner firms, from initial sourcing through ongoing retention and expansion
\n• Serve as the senior point of contact for firm leadership, operations teams, and individual advisors across your book
\n• Source new opportunities through proactive outreach, referrals, and deep engagement within assigned RIA and family office relationships
\n• Run regular business reviews with strategic partners to drive use-case expansion, deepen adoption, and identify new revenue opportunities
\n \nDeal Origination & Structuring
\n• Lead origination and structuring across the full product suite, including securities-based lending, residential mortgages, commercial real estate, premium finance, fine art lending, fund finance, and deposits
\n• Evaluate complex borrower profiles including non-traditional income, entity and trust structures, concentrated positions, and multi-asset balance sheets
\n• Coordinate lender selection, term sheet negotiation, documentation, and closing across a Tier 1 banking partner network
\n• Partner with junior deal team members to ensure efficient execution from submission through funding
\n \nBanking & Cash Management
\n• Advise clients on deposit solutions, cash management strategies, and banking products available through the platform
\n• Help advisors position banking and cash management as a core component of the client relationship, not a standalone transaction
\n• Identify opportunities to deepen client relationships through multi-product banking engagement
\n \nClient Experience & Retention
\n• Own the post-close client experience, including portfolio monitoring, covenant management, renewal coordination, and expansion
\n• Ensure every client interaction reflects the high standard expected at the private banking level
\n• Proactively identify at-risk relationships and address them before they become churn events
\n• Develop case studies and testimonials from successful engagements to support marketing and sales
\n \nVoice of the Client
\n• Surface real-world advisor and client feedback to inform the company’s product roadmap and lender network strategy
\n• Stay current on market trends in private banking, lending, and wealth management to bring strategic perspective to client conversations
\n \nWhat We're Looking For
\n• 12+ years of experience in private banking, wealth management lending, or relationship banking, with a proven track record of managing senior client relationships
\n• Broad lending expertise with the ability to structure complex credit
\n• Strong background in banking products, cash management, and deposit solutions
\n• Deep familiarity with HNW and UHNW borrower profiles, including complex income, trust and entity structures, concentrated assets, and non-traditional documentation
\n• Demonstrated ability to originate, structure, and close complex transactions while simultaneously managing a broad book of relationships
\n• Strong client-facing presence, equally effective with firm executives, individual advisors, and end clients
\n• Experience working with or alongside RIAs, family offices, or independent advisors strongly preferred
\n• Highly organized with strong CRM discipline and pipeline management skills
\n• Entrepreneurial mindset and comfortable building process in an early-stage environment

\n• Clients and advisors view you as a trusted private banking partner, not a transactional vendor
\n• Strong retention: assigned firms renew, expand, and refer new relationships
\n• Cross-team collaboration: junior deal team members are well-supported and productive within your book
