Employment Type: Travel Contract

Required Licenses/Certifications: BLS, ACLS, NIHSS

Experience: Minimum 2 years in Medical-Surgical/Telemetry Nursing

Patient Types: Sepsis, Cellulitis, DVT/PE, CHF, COPD, COVID, PNA, post-op overflow (joints, GI surgeries)

Patient Ratios: RN: 1:5-6 (nights), CNA: 2 per shift

Additional Requirements: Pass an EKG competency exam prior to arrival

What You'll Do

• Provide expert nursing care to patients in a newly established Medical-Surgical/Telemetry unit
• Monitor and assess patient conditions, manage complex cases including sepsis and post-surgical care
• Collect vital signs and perform assessments, including EKGs
• Administer medications and treatments per physician orders
• Support wound management, IV therapy, and other specialized procedures
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary team including hospitalists, PT, OT, and RT
• Document patient care accurately in EMR (Meditech Expanse)
• Float to various Med/Surg units as needed
• Ensure compliance with hospital protocols and patient safety standards

What You Need

Required:

• Active RN license in Louisiana or able to obtain
• BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications
• Minimum 2 years of recent Med/Surg/Telemetry experience
• Ability to pass an EKG competency exam

Preferred:

• Experience managing post-op patients and complex medical conditions
• Strong wound care and IV skills
• Flexibility to float across units
