Job Description

Job Description

Job Title: Injection Press Operator
Job Description

This role involves operating injection molding presses to produce plastic parts, unloading finished components from the machines, trimming them to specification, and preparing them for packaging and shipment. You work largely independently in a warm, open warehouse environment, frequently lifting light to moderate weights while maintaining quality, safety, and productivity standards.

Responsibilities

  • Operate injection molding presses safely and efficiently to produce plastic parts according to production requirements.
  • Unload plastic parts from injection molding machines and place them in designated areas or containers.
  • Trim plastic parts as needed to meet quality, dimension, and appearance specifications.
  • Inspect parts visually for defects and ensure they meet established standards before packaging.
  • Package finished plastic parts accurately and securely for shipment, following established procedures.
  • Use basic measuring tools, such as tape measures, to verify dimensions and ensure parts meet specifications.
  • Follow written and verbal directions from supervisors and team leads to complete daily production tasks.
  • Work independently for extended periods while maintaining consistent output and quality.
  • Perform general labor tasks associated with production, including organizing work areas and handling materials.
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area around the machines and in the packaging zone.
  • Monitor machine operation and promptly report any issues, abnormalities, or safety concerns to supervision.
  • Adhere to all safety guidelines, including proper use of personal protective equipment and safe lifting techniques.
  • Collaborate with other team members in the manufacturing environment to meet production goals and deadlines.
  • Adapt to changing production needs, including different part runs, setups, or packaging requirements as assigned.
Essential Skills
  • 1+ year of manufacturing experience, preferably operating plastic injection molding machines.
  • Experience with basic machine operation in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to read and use a tape measure accurately for basic dimensional checks.
  • Mechanical aptitude and comfort working with production machinery and equipment.
  • 6+ months of experience working independently in a production or general labor role.
  • Ability to follow written and verbal directions reliably and consistently.
  • 1+ year of written and verbal communication experience in a work setting.
  • Comfort lifting approximately 10–15 pounds frequently during the shift.
  • Ability to work in a warmer, open warehouse environment with active machinery.
  • Reliability, dependability, and a strong work ethic in a manufacturing setting.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
  • Prior experience specifically with plastic injection molding presses is highly preferred.
  • Background in packaging operations within a manufacturing or warehouse environment.
  • Familiarity with general labor tasks such as material handling and basic production support.
  • Strong attention to detail when trimming and inspecting parts for quality.
  • Willingness to adapt to different products, setups, and production priorities.
  • Comfort working around distinct industrial odors, such as those similar to burning rubber, associated with injection machines.
Why Work Here?

You join a values-driven organization that emphasizes dependability, hard work, creative problem-solving, and having fun at work. The culture promotes long-term relationships and loyalty, with a strong history of retaining employees even during slower economic periods by finding internal projects rather than resorting to layoffs. The environment celebrates innovation and craftsmanship, giving employees the opportunity to work with advanced technologies such as 3D metal printing and modern injection molding. Unique traditions, including a large, employee-built holiday display, foster pride, community connection, and a sense of belonging. Leadership is known for being flexible, approachable, and receptive to ideas from the production floor, creating a supportive workplace where your voice and contributions matter.

Work Environment

You work in an open warehouse that is not climate-controlled, so you should be comfortable in a warmer environment, especially when machines are running and temperatures rise. Fans operate to improve air circulation during hot conditions. The area includes approximately 15 team members and has a distinct industrial smell similar to burning rubber due to the injection machines. The schedule follows an evening and overnight shift from 5:45 p.m. to 6:00 a.m., Monday through Thursday. The dress code is casual and practical, typically including a t-shirt, long pants, and closed-toe shoes, suitable for working around machinery and in a production setting. You will regularly be around active injection molding equipment and packaging stations in a busy manufacturing environment.
