Senior Scientist, Gene Delivery and Editing Process Development

Senior Scientist position in gene delivery and editing process development at Bristol Myers Squibb supporting viral vector production for cell therapies. Candidate will design upstream experiments, optimize manufacturing processes, and drive next-generation platform development across clinical and commercial scales.

Responsibilities

• Design, execute, and troubleshoot upstream development experiments for lentiviral and adeno-associated viral vector production
• Identify and onboard novel upstream technologies in partnership with internal and external collaborators
• Lead platform development strategy, coordinate junior colleagues and peers, and define timelines and resource needs
• Support process optimization, scale-up activities, and cross-functional downstream/analytical development efforts
• Represent organization within cross-functional teams and manage relationships with external collaborators and service providers

Requirements

• PhD in biological/chemical engineering, biochemistry, or related field plus 1+ year industry experience; or MS with 5+ years; or BS with 7+ years
• Expert-level knowledge of mammalian cell suspension culture in shake flasks and bioreactors
• Demonstrated expertise in viral vector process development
• Proficiency designing and executing Design of Experiments (DoE) with statistical interpretation
• Experience with scale-up parameters for stirred tank bioreactors
• Ability to interface with contract manufacturing and development organizations
• Strong oral and written communication skills for technical presentations and reports

Compensation: $124,190–$150,483 base
