Maintenance Technician

Quanex is looking for a Maintenance Technician to join our team located in Chatsworth, IL .

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for maintaining and repairing mechanical equipment, including motors, pneumatics, conveyor systems and other production machines and equipment. The schedule for this position can be Monday-Friday 7:00am-3:00pm, Monday-Friday 3:00pm - 11:00 pm, or Sunday - Thursday 11:00 pm - 7:00 am.

What Success Looks Like:

• Repairs and reconditions hydraulic/pneumatic systems (airlines, solenoids).
• Maintains, repairs, and modifies injection molding machines, vacuum systems, granulator, augers/mixers,
• Replaces and repairs electrical equipment/components.
• Repairs and maintains material.
• Fabricates and welds parts for repairs, retrofits and
• Installs plumbing, air and electrical utilities necessary for machine
• Ensures machine properly functions (voltage, proper operation).
• Observes mechanical devices in operation and listens to their sounds to locate causes of
• Dismantles devices to gain access to and remove defective
• Examines form and texture of parts to detect
• Inspects used parts to determine changes in dimensional
• Adjusts functional parts of devices and control
• Repairs or replaces defective Installs special functional and structural parts in devices. Lubricates and cleans parts.
• Starts devices to test their performance.
• Sets up and operates lathe, drill press, grinder, and other metalworking tools to make and repair
• Support facility maintenance

What You Bring:

• 3+ years of experience
• Intermediate level of experience with and knowledge of electrical and mechanical applications
• Intermediate experience with the use of a variety of hand and mechanical tools for equipment repair

The hourly wage for this position is starting at $23.50/hr depending on experience plus shift differential based on ($.50/hr-2nd shift or $1.00/hr-3rd shift).
