PrideStaff is recruiting a Senior Quality Engineer for a manufacturing client in Akron. This opportunity is ideal for an experienced quality professional who enjoys solving production problems, improving processes, and working directly with customers and suppliers.

You will help lead quality-system improvements, support successful product launches, and turn quality data into practical changes on the manufacturing floor. The role combines hands-on technical work with project leadership and mentoring of quality personnel.

Key Responsibilities

• Investigate customer complaints and manufacturing defects, leading containment, root-cause analysis, corrective actions, and verification that problems stay resolved.
• Use statistical process control (SPC), capability studies, and measurement-system analysis to identify variation and improve manufacturing performance.
• Guide quality planning for new products and process changes, including risk assessments, validation, control plans, and production-readiness reviews.
• Strengthen the quality management system through clear inspection requirements, effective documentation, and preparation for internal and external audits.
• Partner with suppliers, engineering, and production to improve material quality and reduce scrap, rework, and recurring defects.
• Oversee reliable measurement and calibration practices involving CMM systems and precision inspection equipment.
• Present quality results and improvement recommendations, while coaching quality engineers and inspectors on effective problem-solving methods.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or a related technical field, with at least six years of progressive quality-engineering experience.
• Manufacturing experience that includes leading corrective actions and improvements involving multiple departments.
• Working knowledge of APQP, PFMEA, control plans, SPC, and structured problem-solving tools such as 8D and 5 Whys.
• Familiarity with ISO-based quality systems, supplier quality, audit preparation, engineering drawings, GD&T, and precision measurement.
• Strong analytical and communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with customers, suppliers, and manufacturing teams.

Preferred: Lean or Six Sigma certification, ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE) certification, or experience with statistical analysis software.
