Location Hollywood, Florida Summary The Respiratory Therapist Extern works under the direction of Respiratory Therapists (RT). The extern is responsible for maintaining an appropriate level of equipment and supplies in the various work areas and assisting Respiratory Therapists with various procedures and tasks. Responsibilities Educates the patient and family about the patient's illness and provides information about community support groups and other resources. Responds to codes and calls for emergent assistance. Assesses patient condition and delivers appropriate treatment. Evaluates respiratory care policies and procedures based on patient outcomes, current research, and best practices. Delivers and assesses response to ordered therapy per plan of care. Monitors, documents, and communicates patient condition.
