Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: RN (Registered Nurse) Specialty: MS/Tele/PCU Float Pool Duration: 13 weeks Shift: 12-Hour Nights Hours per Shift: 36 hours per week Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Required Certifications: ACLS, BLS Must-Have: - Minimum of 1 year in a PCU setting - Ability to titrate drips (Heparin, Cardizem, Amiodarone, Nitro, Dopamine, Dobutamine, Insulin) - Competence in reading dysrhythmias Description: The position involves caring for diverse patient populations, including geriatric and orthopedic patients. The unit is a Float Pool that covers multiple areas, including MedSurg, Tele, and PCU. Patients may include those recovering from procedures in a strong cath lab program. Common diagnoses involve post-myocardial infarction, post-cardiac catheterization, and post-operative CABG on days 3-4. Nurse-to-patient ratios are typically 1:4 in PCU and 1:5-6 in MedSurg Tele. Charge nurses do not take assignments; each unit is supported by nurse aids. Nurses must interpret telemetry strips and be familiar with monitoring equipment. Scheduling requires flexibility, with a published schedule six weeks in advance. Travelers are expected to participate in weekend and holiday rotations as needed. Notification of unit assignments occurs two hours prior to shift start via text message. The dress code consists of solid color professional scrubs, transitioning to navy scrubs in October.
