Health Aide Phoenix, AZ, US 3 days ago Requisition ID: 1000 Salary Range: $18.87 To $28.07 Hourly POSITION OVERVIEW The Student Health Aide supports the daily operations of the school health office by providing basic student care, assisting with health records, and supporting student wellness services under the direction of the school administration and/or designated health professional. This position also assists with National School Lunch Program (NSLP) cashier duties and provides front office coverage as needed. DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES Note: The essential functions below describe the general requirements of this position and are not intended to be an exhaustive statement of duties. Responsibilities Provide basic first aid, administer medications, monitor illnesses and injuries, and notify parents/guardians of concerns; contact 911 in emergency situations. Lead chronic health illness processes and communicate student health needs with appropriate staff. Record daily health office visits in the school’s student information system. Maintain student health files and records. Complete and process accident and head injury reports. Communicate with families and staff regarding student health concerns. Attend annual trainings and reviews, including diabetes management, medication administration, Diastat/seizure response, Narcan, and EpiPen training. Maintain immunization records in compliance with state requirements; issue referrals and exclusion letters as needed, and monitor immunizations in progress. Organize and complete required vision and hearing screenings. Enter screening results into the school’s information system and distribute referrals as needed. Assist counselors with 504 plans and medical accommodations. Maintain cleanliness of the health office, equipment, and supplies. Support in organizing quarterly school-wide health initiatives/events to engage families. Gather health field volunteer opportunities for students. Compile medical resources for families. Develop and maintain health community partnerships. Cafeteria / National School Lunch Program Support Serve as a cashier during meal service for the National School Lunch Program. Accurately process student meal transactions using the school’s point-of-sale system. Ensure compliance with federal and state guidelines related to the meal program. Other Duties Support front office coverage by answering phones, greeting visitors, assisting students and parents, handling basic office tasks, and providing coverage during staff absences or busy periods. Perform other related duties as assigned by the Administration to support the overall mission of the school. KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, & ABILITIES Former experience in this field. Experience in school nursing is highly recommended but not required. Obtain certification and conduct hearing and vision screenings per ADHS guidelines. High School Diploma or equivalent (Required). Valid State of Arizona “IVP” Fingerprint Clearance Card (or acquired prior to employment) CPR and First Aid certifications. Superior knowledge of education laws and regulations. Demonstrates taking personal ownership for his or her own development; growth mindset. Preference will be given to individuals who have experience working in the target community or in a demographically-similar community and prior experience in a similar role. Obtain SSMP certification and train staff on use of Epinephrine, Albuterol and Narcan for emergency use. BACKGROUND CHECKS The incumbent in this position will be required to pass a criminal history background check. Must be able to obtain and hold a valid IVP Level One Fingerprint Clearance Card at all times. PHYSICAL/ WORK ENVIRONMENT Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods. Ability to lift up to 25 pounds occasionally. TERMS OF EMPLOYMENT Eleven- month employee pay and benefits in accordance with Board policy. FLSA: Non-Exempt.
