Bus Driver

The Bus Driver is responsible for providing safe and timely transportation for various routes for the students of Providence Creek Academy. Qualities needed to thrive in this role include the ability to build strong relationships with students, parents, and key school stakeholders across the school; a working knowledge of State and Federal laws, guidelines, safety protocols, and school rules; a desire to interact and safely drive students to and from school in all weather conditions; and the ability to support the transportation staff, create a welcoming environment, and communicate effectively with stakeholders.

Major responsibilities include driving a school bus on scheduled routes and/or on all types of field trips, operating all school bus equipment and accessories, maintaining control of all passengers as required by Delaware Regulation 1150, reporting any unsafe actions or conditions, completing all forms, timesheets, records, and reports in a timely fashion, maintaining effective working relationships with students, parents, staff, and the general public, and maintaining a clean and safe driving record.

Essential qualifications and skills include a high school diploma or equivalent, previous experience or work as a bus driver, a clean driving record with no more than 4 points on the license, a CDL Class B School Bus Endorsement, and fingerprinting/CBC affidavit. Skills include the ability to communicate accurately and effectively with various levels of staff, remain organized, and have behavior management experience. Compensation is $150/day at $30/hours and requires 25 hours a week, with field trips, sports trips, and summer camp field trips available as well. Compensation is based on years at PCA with bonus potential for sign on, referrals, and safety.
