Location: Avera Behavioral Health Center – Sioux Falls Worker Type: Regular Work Shift: Rotating days/evenings/nights/weekends/holidays (United States of America) Pay Range: $24.50 – $48.50 per hour. Actual pay rate depends on experience. Position Highlights This position may be eligible for a Sign On Bonus up to $15,000. Nurses with 3+ years of experience: Every 3rd weekend, every other holiday. Avera Behavioral Health Adult B Unit is a structured, therapeutic environment for adults to learn about their diagnosis, develop a Crisis Response Plan, use healthy coping skills, and set and complete goals. Core Responsibilities Provides patient care by reviewing physician prescriptions, communicating the nursing care plan, and coordinating with other healthcare providers. Offers physical, emotional, psychological, and spiritual support to patients, families, and friends. Develops nursing care plans by obtaining medical histories, examining patients, documenting status, conferring with family and friends, establishing nursing diagnoses, setting objectives, and defining interventions and timetables. Teaches healthcare requirements, establishing patient care goals and instructing patients, families, and friends about conditions, medications, and self‑care skills. Evaluates patient care by adhering to therapeutic standards, measuring outcomes, reviewing records, noting changes, re‑evaluating objectives, and modifying care plans. Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy environment by following infection‑control policies, medication and storage procedures, controlled substance regulations, and legal requirements. Documents patient care services in charting systems. Maintains equipment operation, performs preventive maintenance, and manages supplies. Ensures supplies are stocked by checking inventory, anticipating needs, expediting orders, and verifying receipt. Maintains competence in nursing capabilities outlined by leadership. Essential Qualifications Registered Nurse (RN) with active state of practice license. Ability to work required hours, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Visual acuity, hearing, and speech communication adequate for job functions. Strong interpersonal and team collaboration skills. Knowledge of infection‑control, medication safety, and controlled substance protocols. Demonstrated competence in nursing assessments, planning, and documentation.
