Underwriter

We are seeking a detail-oriented and analytical Commercial Credit Underwriter to evaluate small business lending opportunities and support sound credit decisions. This individual will assess borrower and guarantor financial strength, identify risk factors, and work collaboratively across the organization to deliver financing solutions that support business growth while maintaining credit quality.

Key Responsibilities

• Analyze financial statements, tax returns, cash flow, and supporting documentation for small business borrowers and guarantors.
• Conduct detailed trend, cash flow, and ratio analysis to assess creditworthiness and repayment capacity.
• Independently evaluate loan requests and make underwriting decisions in accordance with established credit policies and procedures.
• Identify and assess key risks within credit transactions, including recognizing red flags, inconsistencies, and potential areas of concern.
• Develop practical and balanced credit recommendations while maintaining a customer-centric approach.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enhance underwriting processes, improve operational efficiencies, and support the development of credit policies and procedures.
• Communicate credit decisions, findings, and recommendations clearly and professionally to internal stakeholders, borrowers, and external partners.
• Maintain high quality and production standards in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
• Demonstrate strong critical thinking skills and the ability to make informed decisions in situations with limited information or ambiguity.
• Incorporate quality assurance feedback and industry best practices to continuously improve underwriting effectiveness and consistency.

1+ years of experience in a fast-paced environment within financial services.

Experience in loan processing and credit underwriting is preferred Or Loan closing Small Business Loans

Experience in asset-based lending and/or factoring is a plus.

Bachelor’s degree or higher is preferred.
