Assistant Coach - Basketball - (Battle High School)

Assistant Coach – Boys Basketball – Battle High School Purpose This position will assist with maintaining the boys’ basketball program. Essential Responsibilities and Duties Assist with maintaining the boys’ basketball program. Maintain positive communication with patrons, parents of athletes, and potential athletes. Assist with coordinating off‑season camps and conditioning programs. Encourage good sportsmanship and enthusiasm for the sport. Collaborate with other coaches to ensure a comprehensive approach to athletes. Ensure compliance with MSHAA. Maintain statistics on all players. Perform other duties as necessary to support the mission and vision of Columbia Public Schools. Reporting Relationships Reports To: Athletic Director Qualifications Minimum requirements: 60 college credit hours. Missouri substitute teaching certificate. Sport first aid course. If hired with a substitute certificate, must complete an MSHSAA‑approved coaching education program (NFICEP) and pass an exit test. Preferred qualifications: Bachelor’s degree. Missouri teaching certificate. Prior teaching or coaching experience. Professional and friendly demeanor; ability to work well with diverse individuals in a fast‑paced environment. ADA Requirements Language: read, analyze and interpret professional journals, board policy, administrative procedures, and government regulations; complete forms; write reports; present information effectively. Computation: perform basic math, apply fractions, percentages, ratios. Reasoning: solve diverse problems; interpret instructions; apply education theory. Other skills: adapt instructional methods, maintain relationships, multitask. Technology: basic computer functions, use district software, smart boards, projectors. Physical demands: speak and hear in busy environment; move around classroom, gym, field; read materials. Attendance: consistent attendance; frequent evening/weekend work; travel accompany students to games and meets. Sensory requirements: normal visual acuity, field of vision, hearing, speaking.
