About the Position

Job Title: Registered Nurse Profession: Registered Nurse Specialty: Outpatient Clinic Hematology Oncology Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 8 hours (07:30 - 16:00) Experience: Minimum of 2 years License: Valid state or compact license required Certifications: BLS Must-Have: Oncology experience preferred Experience with IV therapy and phlebotomy Description: This position is for a registered nurse in an outpatient clinic specializing in hematology oncology. Candidates will perform peripheral and line blood draws and IV placements. Staffing ratios goal is 1:4, but can be 1:5. Weekend shifts are variable based on unit needs. No set or blocked scheduling is offered. Self-scheduling requests will be accepted to accommodate preferred schedules. The first week of orientation will cover day shifts. The second week will involve 36 hours of on-unit orientation with a preceptor. Essential skills include drawing labs, placing peripheral IVs, accessing ports, and PICC line management. Additional responsibilities include EKGs, injections, and immunizations. Patient diagnoses primarily involve hematology malignancies, including multiple myeloma, chronic leukemia, and lymphoma, pre and post bone marrow transplant and CAR-T transplant. Special procedures encompass chemotherapy, blood transfusions, IV antibiotics, and oncologic emergencies. A heavy focus on infection prevention protocols and patient safety is required. Experience with computerized charting, specifically Epic, is preferred. Two professional references are required, with at least one from a supervisor or manager. Candidates must comply with credentialing processes and fingerprinting requirements.
