Controls Engineer

The Controls Engineer is responsible for programming, installing, and managing the sensors, machines, and data acquisition systems used to evaluate product performance, safety, and reliability. As a Controls Engineer, you will be the nervous system of the production facility. You are responsible for designing, programming, and troubleshooting production machines and systems. Compensation: $110K-$135K, with benefits Responsibilities Design and develop integrated systems for various testing, and manufacturing environments. Develop and optimize code for PLCs (Programmable Logic Controllers), HMIs (Human Machine Interfaces), and SCADA systems. Select, calibrate, program, and install sensors , machines and other production hardware as needed. Integrate and calibrate multi-axis industrial robots (e.g., FANUC, ABB, Kuka) for tasks like spot welding, sealing, and material handling. Verify that test setups meet industry standards (ISO, ASTM, etc.) and internal quality requirements. Work closely with other engineering departments to fix issues, and complete assigned projects. Other duties as needed and assigned. Preferred Skills Mastery of Ladder Logic, Function Block, and Structured Text. You must be able to write and debug code in environments like Studio 5000 (Allen-Bradley) or TIA Portal (Siemens). Experience in statistical data analysis software (e.g. Minitab) would be a plus. Creating intuitive interfaces for operators to monitor machine health and clear faults (e.g., FactoryTalk View, Ignition). Ability to read and interpret complex electrical schematics and P&IDs. Configuring and tuning VFDs (Variable Frequency Drives) and Servo Motors for precise positioning. Proficiency in robot-specific languages (like FANUC’s TP/KAREL or ABB’s RAPID) and experience with vision-guided robotics (VGR). Advanced programming of Cognex or Keyence cameras for high-speed inspection, 3D mapping, or VIN reading. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical or Electronic Engineering, Master's degree preferred. 8 years of experience or equivalent education and experience 5 years experience with project management. 5 years experience in automotive product development. Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project) required. Proficient in PLC programming and usage.
