Rush Heart & Vascular , part of the Rush University System for Health, invites applications for the Section Chief of Advanced Imaging. This is a unique leadership opportunity to shape and further expand a nationally recognized, comprehensive cardiovascular imaging program within one of the country's premier academic health systems, located in the heart of downtown Chicago.
The Section Chief will play an integral role in advancing clinical innovation, program growth, research, and education across advanced cardiac imaging modalities while collaborating with a highly respected multidisciplinary cardiovascular team. This position includes an academic appointment within the Department of Internal Medicine, Division of Cardiology.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide strategic leadership and oversight for all clinical, operational, academic, and programmatic aspects of Advanced Cardiac Imaging, including cardiovascular CT, cardiac MRI, echocardiography, and nuclear cardiology.
Lead the continued growth, innovation, and integration of a comprehensive advanced imaging program across the Rush University System for Health.
Collaborate closely with departmental and institutional leadership to advance excellence in patient care, quality initiatives, education, research, and multidisciplinary cardiovascular care delivery.
Drive innovation within advanced cardiac imaging through the implementation of emerging technologies, advanced imaging protocols, artificial intelligence applications, and best practices.
Foster faculty recruitment, mentorship, professional development, and academic advancement within a highly collaborative and mission-driven environment.
Support and expand clinical research, scholarly activity, and clinical trials initiatives within cardiovascular imaging.
Advance educational initiatives through active engagement in teaching and mentorship of fellows, residents, and medical students.
Partner with cardiology, cardiac surgery, electrophysiology, heart failure, structural heart, and vascular teams to strengthen integrated cardiovascular care models and imaging excellence across the enterprise.
Qualifications:
Board certified in Cardiology, with an MD, DO, MD/PhD, DO/PhD, or equivalent.
Formal fellowship training in advanced imaging with Level III in at least 2 of Cardiac MRI, cardiovascular CT and ECHO.
Additional formal training in nuclear cardiology, particularly cardiac PET, is preferred.
Qualified candidates must hold a faculty appointment at the Associate Professor level or higher, or possess credentials commensurate with appointment at that rank.
Proven record of collaboration leadership and commitment excellence in clinical care, research, and education.
Strong commitment to diversity, equity, inclusion, and mentorship within an academic health system.
About the Service Line:
The Heart & Vascular Service Line is a key component of the Rush System. This service line delivers comprehensive, compassionate care for cardiovascular conditions, leveraging cutting-edge research, advanced technologies, and a multidisciplinary team of cardiologists, cardiovascular surgeons, interventional radiologists, and other specialists. Rush offers comprehensive, multidisciplinary care for virtually every type of adult heart and vascular condition. Services include general and preventive cardiology, advanced cardiovascular surgery, complex interventional services, electrophysiology, and advanced heart failure management. Specialized programs include The Rush Heart Center for Women, cardio-oncology, sports cardiology, cardio-genetics, and cardiometabolic care including The Rush Cardiometabolic Health Initiative. Patients also benefit from access to leading-edge diagnostics and participation in clinical research evaluating new treatments, devices, and procedures. It focuses on prevention, diagnosis, treatment, and rehabilitation for heart and vascular diseases, serving patients across Chicago, its western suburbs, Northwest Indiana, and the Aurora/Fox Valley region.

Rush offers competitive total compensation that includes base pay, benefits, and other incentive programs for our employees. The total pay range shown reflects the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including, but not limited to, knowledge and skills; relevant experience and training; education, certifications, and licensure; primary work location; and other business and organizational factors. This total pay range is for a full-time, 1.0 FTE employee, and includes any incentive payments that may be applicable to this role, as well as additional compensation such as sign-on and retention bonuses and relocation allowances. Opportunities for increased compensation based on exceeding productivity targets. We also offer a comprehensive benefits package.
Pay Range: $415,000 - $550,000
