Cashier Position at Euclid City Schools

Euclid City Schools is in need of a Cashier at the Early Learning Village for the 2026-2027 school year. Interested and qualified candidates must complete and submit an online application. Candidates selected for an interview will be contacted by the hiring manager. The position is part-time with a pay rate of $14.55/hr. - $15.46/hr. Job Description

Position: Cashier/Vending

Reports to: Food Service Supervisor

Employment Status: Regular/Part-time FLSA Status: Non-Exempt

Description: Perform various tasks related to the monies received for school lunches, i.e., collect, count and record lunch fees, and prepare the deposit slip. Vending responsibilities. Help with laundry. Serve on the line. Clean all cooking areas. Count money at end of the day. Assist Cook when needed.

Essential Functions

• Ensure safety of students
• Receive payment for cafeteria lunches (including milk)
• Record number of lunches served to students and staff
• Prepare change before lunchroom opens
• Count receipts following lunch period and record totals
• Wrap money at the end of each day
• Restock milk when needed
• Fill condiments when needed
• Maintain current list of free and reduced price lunches
• Complete and balance out daily worksheets and document if free/reduced meals go beyond building limits
• Follow proper collection procedures when/if lunch balance limits are exceeded.
• Ensure that appropriate paperwork is in cash box
• Prepare the cash register/POS for the lunch line on a daily basis
• Determine and collect the correct amount to charge for each individual meal or item
• Count money and clear cash register/POS and close each school day according to procedures
• Vending operations to include: setup; restocking; product inventory; money accountability; product ordering
• Responsible for cleanliness of vending machines and inventory of products
• Make contacts with the public with tact and diplomacy
• Maintain respect at all times for confidential information, e.g., free and reduced lunch students
• Interact in a positive manner with staff, students, and parents
• Attend meetings and in-services as required
• Keep records of all receipts and categorize them into children's lunches, free and reduced lunches, children milk, children a la carte and adult receipts
• Run total for each category at the end of each month and give to the Food Service Supervisor, or designee
• See that napkins, silverware, straws, and condiments are in ample supply during serving of students
• Help restock la carte items and general cleanup as time permits
• Adhere to rigid sanitary standards in work and attire; attire is clearly defined in the dress uniform policy

Other Duties and Responsibilities

• Audit the daily milk bill to ensure its accuracy, if applicable
• Serve as a role model for students in how to conduct themselves as citizens and as responsible, intelligent human beings
• Respond to routine questions and requests in an appropriate manner
• At the beginning of the year, the team will meet to determine which employee will be designated as the fill-in during the absence of the cook or assistant cook
• Assist with laundry duties, as directed by Cook, or designee
• Perform other duties as assigned by the Food Service Supervisor

Qualifications

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED)
• One year related experience preferred
• Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Superintendent and/or Board of Education may find appropriate

• Frequent requirement to sit, stand, walk, talk, hear, see color differences, read, speak, reach, stretch with hands and arms, scoop, and stoop
• Frequent requirement for excessive standing during assigned work day
• Frequent requirement to lift, carry, push, and pull various items up to a maximum of 50 pounds
• Frequent repetitive hand motion, e.g., cutting and grinding
• Occasional overtime work will be requested and expected of the employee
