We are seeking a passionate and mission-driven Gift Processing and Finance Specialist to help expand the impact of Shepherd’s House Ministries across all sites and advance this life-changing work.

The Gift Processing & Finance Specialist is responsible for accurately processing, depositing, reconciling, and receipting monetary and in-kind contributions while maintaining accurate financial records and strong donor relationships. This position works closely with Finance and Development, supports seasonal giving campaigns, and provides backup accounts receivable and accounts payable support as needed.

Technical Work Expectations:

1. Process and record donations including checks, online contributions, recurring gifts, event donations, and in-kind contributions accurately and timely. 
2. Prepare and process contribution deposits, including remote check deposits and entry/import into CRM and accounting systems. 
3. Reconcile donations and deposits with Finance to ensure accuracy and resolve discrepancies promptly. 
4. Maintain accurate donor and financial records, including donation documentation, deposits, correspondence, and related records. 
5. Maintain strong internal controls by securely handling contributions, following deposit and segregation-of-duties procedures, and escalating unusual transactions or discrepancies. 
6. Coordinate gift coding and donor designations with the Development Team to ensure contributions are properly recorded and acknowledged. 
7. Develop and maintain gift-in-kind processes, including tracking systems, consistent procedures, and staff training. 
8. Prepare financial and fundraising reports for leadership, Finance, Development, auditors, and the Board as needed. 
9. Support donor stewardship and fundraising activities, including donor acknowledgements, personalized thank-you letters, year-end giving, and major fundraising events. 
10. Identify process improvements and provide cross-departmental support to improve gift-processing accuracy, efficiency, and overall Finance and Development operations. 

Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

1. 1–3 years of experience in nonprofit gift processing, bookkeeping, accounting support, nonprofit finance, or a related field. 
2. Strong attention to detail and accuracy, with the ability to identify discrepancies, investigate variances, and maintain confidentiality. 
3. Proficiency with Excel or Google Sheets and data entry, including preparing import files and identifying missing, duplicate, or inaccurate records. 
4. Experience with donor databases/CRM and accounting software, preferably Bloomerang and Sage Intacct. 
5. Strong organizational and communication skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities, work independently, and collaborate effectively across teams.

Physical Requirements: 

1. Primarily sedentary office work requiring prolonged periods of sitting and focused computer use.
2. Frequent use of hands, fingers, and wrists to operate keyboards, office equipment, and donor management systems.
3. Ability to read and interpret information on screens, paper records, and printed documents.
4. Ability to communicate clearly in person and by phone.
5. Occasional standing, walking, bending, and reaching to access files or materials.
6. May occasionally lift or carry materials (up to approximately 15–20 pounds).
7. Ability to work in a typical office environment with moderate noise levels.
