Administrative RN Director - Clinical Surgery

Position Overview

This leadership role holds full accountability for the delivery of high-quality nursing care and the operational management of surgical services. The position involves integrating, facilitating, and coordinating leadership, management, quality improvement, and clinical activities within the surgical department. Serving as a professional role model, mentor, and clinical resource, the director oversees daily operations and staff supervision.

Key Responsibilities
  • Ensure a safe, clean working environment, including adherence to unit-based safety and infection control protocols.
  • Manage daily operations of surgical areas effectively.
  • Lead integration and coordination of leadership, operational, quality improvement, and clinical functions.
  • Conduct performance assessments and evaluations of surgical staff.
  • Collaborate with Medical Directors, Division Chiefs, Surgeons, Anesthesiologists, and staff to enhance surgical service programs, improving efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of regulatory standards, nursing practice guidelines, and employment regulations.
Qualifications
  • At least three years of progressive leadership experience in surgery, surgical services, or hospital operations.
  • Expertise in managing specialty surgical services such as cardiovascular, neurological, or orthopedic care delivery.
  • Proven leadership skills overseeing teams and driving operational improvements.
  • Dependable with integrity, initiative, attention to detail, and strong ethical standards.
  • Excellent communication abilities.
  • Demonstrated capacity to lead change and support strategic initiatives.
  • Experience with regulatory compliance and standards.
Education
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) or a bachelor's degree in a health-related field.
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) or a master's degree in business or health-related field preferred; candidates pursuing a master's degree with completion within 18 months of hire will be considered.
Licenses and Certifications
  • Current registered nurse license or equivalent healthcare license.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association.
  • Certified Nurse Operating Room (CNOR) required for RN candidates upon hire or within one year of employment.

All new hires must successfully complete a physical evaluation, drug screening, and background checks prior to starting employment.
