Clinical Social Worker - Psychiatry Consult Liaison

Role Overview The Clinical Social Worker will serve as an integral member of the multi-disciplinary Psychiatry Consult Liaison service, collaborating with medical staff to manage patients requiring psychiatric evaluation in the medical and surgical inpatient settings, as well as the emergency department. Responsibilities include conducting biopsychosocial assessments, obtaining collateral information from external providers and family, collaborating with Psychiatry on treatment goals, and facilitating placement of patients at an appropriate level of care, including inpatient psychiatric hospitalization. Does this position require Patient Care? Yes Essential Functions Provide psychosocial assessments of patients and families with social, emotional, interpersonal, and/or environmental issues; formulate biopsychosocial assessment, disposition, and treatment plans. Collaborate with other professionals to evaluate patients' medical or physical condition and assess client needs as part of the interdisciplinary team. Monitor, evaluate, and record client progress according to measurable goals described in the treatment and care plan. Education Master's Degree in Social Work required. Licenses and Credentials Current LCSW (Massachusetts) or LICSW (State License) required. Clinical experience in a medical setting: 0–1 year for Social Worker I; 2–3 years for Social Worker II. Hires with LCSW must obtain LICSW licensure within 12 months of eligibility to sit for the LICSW exam. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Excellent organizational, time‑management, crisis intervention, problem‑solving, and conflict resolution skills. Ability to work well collaboratively and independently, with strong written and verbal communication. Knowledge of community resources, the aging process, and documentation practices. Demonstrated foundational skills in formulation, risk assessment, crisis intervention, and psychosocial treatment planning. Developing interpersonal collaboration in a medical setting; may need coaching or guidance. Will assist with onboarding for new team members and participate in departmental initiatives; uses data to measure progress. Requires supervision for fundamental tasks and promotion of collaboration among healthcare team members. Addendum Hires with LCSW are required to obtain LICSW licensure within 12 months of eligibility to sit for the LICSW exam.
