Our organization is on the lookout for a proficient Interventional Cardiologist to enhance our Interventional Cardiology team at the SFVA Medical Center (SFVAMC). Serving around 90,000 Veterans through the SFVAMC and nine community outpatient clinics, the San Francisco VA Health Care System is a tertiary academic medical center that accommodates approximately 5,000 inpatient admissions each year, providing a comprehensive range of inpatient, outpatient, and subspecialty services. Alongside our state-of-the-art cardiac catheterization lab, we also offer a complete array of CT Surgery services on-site. The Cardiology Section operates within the Medical Service (Department of Medicine) of the SFVAHCS and has an academic partnership with the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF).

Key Responsibilities

The ideal candidate will deliver exceptional interventional cardiac care to our Veterans, executing a wide variety of diagnostic and therapeutic coronary and structural interventions. The primary focus will be on interventional cardiology, while also engaging in general cardiology services.

This role not only involves direct patient care but also emphasizes an academic mission, including teaching and mentoring UCSF's general and interventional cardiology fellows, as well as medical residents and students who frequently rotate through the SFVA. Depending on individual interests, there may be opportunities for participation in quality improvement initiatives, leadership roles, education, and research.

General responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

• Conducting a comprehensive range of diagnostic and therapeutic interventional cardiac procedures.

• Serving as an attending physician on the inpatient cardiology consult service and in the cardiac intensive care unit.

• Precepting and/or seeing patients in the SFVA Cardiology Clinic.

• Interpreting ECGs and ambulatory ECG monitors.

Additionally, you will supervise and educate general and interventional cardiology fellows, medical residents, and medical students who rotate through your services.

Compensation and Benefits

• Salary Range: Expected between $345K - $400K (negotiable based on qualifications and experience).
• Education Debt Reduction Program: Authorized for student loan repayment.
• Work Schedule: Full-time, with hours determined by the supervisor.
• Compensation: Competitive salary, annual performance bonuses, and regular salary increases.
• Paid Time Off: 50-55 days annually (including 26 days of annual leave, 13 days of sick leave, 11 paid Federal holidays, and potentially 5 days for CME).
• Retirement: Traditional federal pension (5 years vesting) and a federal 401K with up to 5% contributions from the organization.
• Insurance: Comprehensive federal health, vision, dental, term life, and long-term care coverage (many federal insurance options can extend into retirement).
• Licensure: Must possess one full and unrestricted medical license from any U.S. state or territory.
• CME: Possible reimbursement of up to $1,000 per year (must be full-time and board certified).
• Malpractice Coverage: Liability protection with tail coverage included.
• Contract: No Physician Employment Contract and minimal restrictions on moonlighting.
