Telecommunications Manager 2 (Network Services)Location: Austin, TX (Hybrid – Onsite + Telework) Duration: Long-Term Opportunity Visa - Any - local candidatePosition Overview: The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) is seeking an experienced Telecommunications Manager 2 to lead and oversee Network Services operations. This role will be responsible for managing enterprise network infrastructure, ensuring high availability, and supporting mission-critical initiatives across WAN, LAN, wireless, SD-WAN, and network security environments. The ideal candidate will bring strong leadership, deep technical expertise, and the ability to manage complex network environments while collaborating with cross-functional teams.Key Responsibilities:Provide leadership and operational oversight for Network Services, including WAN, LAN, wireless, SD-WAN, and security platformsManage daily operations such as incident management, problem resolution, and service availabilityAct as the escalation point for critical network and infrastructure issuesCoordinate and prioritize workload across infrastructure and security teamsSupport key initiatives including: SD-WAN implementation and optimization, network monitoring tools (e.g., ThousandEyes, AppDynamics), security integrations (NGFW, identity services, secure workload)Oversee vendor relationships and network-related contractsEnsure compliance with security policies, standards, and regulatory requirementsParticipate in change management processes with proper documentation and approvalsCollaborate with Infrastructure, Data Center, Telecom, and Security teamsProvide status reporting, risk assessment, and mitigation planning to leadershipMaintain documentation for network architecture and operational proceduresSupport knowledge transfer and continuity planningRequired Qualifications:Minimum 7 years of supervisory/management experience in networking/telecommunicationsProven ability to lead teams, drive collaboration, and achieve organizational goalsPreferred Qualifications:7+ years of experience with Cisco VoIP (design, administration, and maintenance)5+ years managing network teams in complex enterprise environmentsExperience supporting 24x7x365 network, voice, and video operationsHands-on experience with: SD-WAN technologies, network monitoring tools (ThousandEyes, AppDynamics), network security solutions (NGFW, identity services)
