About This Role

Agape Center for Care is seeking an experienced, passionate, and dependable Lead Teacher to join our team! We are looking for an educator who is committed to creating a safe, nurturing, engaging, and developmentally appropriate learning environment for children.

The Lead Teacher plays an important role in guiding the classroom, supporting children's growth and development, and providing leadership to classroom staff.

What You'll Do

Position Responsibilities

• Plan and implement engaging, developmentally appropriate learning activities and curriculum
• Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and positive classroom environment
• Supervise children and ensure their safety and well-being at all times
• Support children's social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development
• Lead and support Teacher Assistants and other classroom staff
• Maintain daily classroom routines and ensure the classroom operates effectively
• Encourage positive behavior and use appropriate guidance techniques
• Complete required classroom documentation and child observations
• Communicate professionally and effectively with families and team members
• Maintain a clean, organized, and welcoming classroom environment
• Ensure compliance with Agape Center for Care policies and Virginia childcare licensing requirements
• Participate in required training and professional development opportunities

Requirements

Qualifications

• Previous experience working in an early childhood education or childcare setting is preferred
• Previous classroom leadership experience is strongly preferred
• A genuine passion for working with children and supporting their development
• Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills
• Ability to effectively manage a classroom and support a team
• Dependable, professional, and able to work collaboratively with others
• Ability to meet all Virginia childcare licensing, background check, and training requirements
