Electrical Engineer - System Electronics

Overview Joby is seeking a talented electrical engineer to join our team designing all-electric aircraft. This engineer will work closely with mechanical, software, and other cross-functional teams. You'll be taking ownership of key electrical subsystems and printed-circuit-boards from design through prototyping and to product. This is a hands-on position. Optimizing designs for reliability, weight, and efficiency will be a focus. Responsibilities Create clear and readable schematics for digital and mixed-signal printed-circuit-boardsComponent selection for minimum mass and maximum reliabilityInvestigate modern technologies for power and data transmission/managementWork with PCB designers to create reliable and low-weight layoutsWrite and validate requirementsWork with system safety team to drive DFMEAsAuthor verification test cases and execute the test casesAssist with the creation, bring-up, and support of tools to support designDrive continual process improvements, maturing existing designs, and incorporating feedback from field use cases Required B.S. in Electrical Engineering (or a related discipline) with 2+ years of relevant industry working experience, or equivalent work experience Strong electrical engineering fundamentals, including:Power conversion (linear and switching regulators)Digital design and layoutSignal conditioning and conversion (ADCs, filters)Discrete semiconductor design (FETs, BJTs, Diodes)Schematic capture and PCB designExperience with component selectionHands-on experience with building and debugging hardwareGreat communication skills Desired M.S. or Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or related disciplineExperience with electric transportationExperience with high voltage DC electrical systemsFamiliarity with Altium DesignerExposure to regulatory certificationDesign-for-reliability experience, including the use of DFMEA and fault trees Additional Information Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $87,500 - $160,000/yr.
