POSITION SUMMARY:

Overland Corporation is seeking a detail-oriented Accountant to join our team at the Main Office in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Reporting to the Chief Financial Officer, this full-time position supports the company’s accounting and administrative functions through accurate financial reporting, project accounting, account reconciliation, budgeting, payroll tax reporting, and internal-control activities. The Accountant will work closely with management and employees across multiple departments to maintain reliable financial records, meet departmental goals, and support the continued growth of the organization. The ideal candidate has a strong understanding of accounting principles, excellent analytical and organizational skills, and experience in construction or project-based accounting.

JOB DUTIES & REQUIREMENTS:

Prepare project profitability reports for management using the percentage-of-completion method. Review project financial information and identify opportunities for additional billings. Prepare and enter journal entries, including approved expense reclassifications, correcting entries, and expenditure allocations. Analyze revenue and expenses to verify that transactions are recorded accurately and in the appropriate accounting periods. Assist with preparing and reviewing financial statements and supporting schedules according to the monthly closing schedule. Prepare monthly account reconciliations and investigate and resolve discrepancies. Conduct regular audits to verify transactions and the accuracy of financial records. Compile financial information and supporting documentation for internal and external audits. Assist with preparing and entering the annual budget to support effective planning and cost control. Assist with preparing multistate payroll tax returns. Help document, maintain, and monitor internal controls. Maintain and expand knowledge of the company’s accounting software, reporting tools, and financial systems. Protect the confidentiality of company financial records, employee information, and other sensitive documents. Maintain accurate, complete, and organized accounting records. Communicate professionally with management, employees, auditors, vendors, and other business partners. Prioritize and manage multiple assignments and deadlines simultaneously. Follow all company policies, procedures, and workplace safety requirements. Assist management with special projects as assigned. Perform additional duties as necessary to support the Accounting Department and the organization. Must be able to pass a pre-employment drug screen.

KNOWLEDGE:

Strong knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and financial reporting. Understanding of general ledger accounting, journal entries, account reconciliations, and monthly closing procedures. Knowledge of project accounting and the percentage-of-completion method. Understanding of budgeting, cost control, revenue recognition, and expense allocation. Knowledge of internal controls and financial audit procedures. Familiarity with construction accounting or other project-based accounting environments. Proficiency with Microsoft Office programs, particularly Excel. Familiarity with custom reporting tools and construction accounting software, such as VISTA is preferred. Ability to collect, organize, analyze, and present financial information from multiple sources. Ability to identify discrepancies, investigate financial records, and recommend appropriate corrections.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field required. Construction accounting or project-based accounting experience is preferred. Experience with percentage-of-completion accounting is preferred. Strong analytical, organizational, reconciliation, and problem-solving skills. Excellent attention to detail and commitment to financial accuracy. Ability to prepare clear financial reports and explain accounting information to management and employees. Ability to prioritize responsibilities and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment. Dependable, self-motivated, and able to work independently or collaboratively. Ability to maintain confidentiality when handling sensitive financial, employee, and company information. Occasional travel to project sites or other company locations may be required.

PHYSICAL ACTIVITY:

Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods. Ability to stand, walk, bend, reach, and perform other routine office activities. Must be able to lift and carry files, office supplies, and equipment weighing up to 15 pounds occasionally. Ability to use a computer, keyboard, telephone, calculator, and other standard office equipment. Ability to review detailed financial documents and computer-generated reports for extended periods. Must be able to communicate effectively in person, by telephone, and through electronic communication. Occasional visits to active construction sites may require walking on uneven terrain and wearing required personal protective equipment. Primary work location is the Overland Corporation Main Office in Ardmore, Oklahoma. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
