GENERAL STATEMENT OF DUTIES
General Description

The purpose of this job is to provide installation and maintenance for the wastewater plant facilities.

This position works under close supervision according to set procedures.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS/TYPICAL TASKS
Duties and Responsibilities

The functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this position. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the position as necessary.

• Maintain and repair mechanical systems in sewage pump stations and maintaining right of ways at the Wellfield.
• Assists in pulling pumps and floats, changing impellers, motors and valves as assigned.
• Changes oil in pumps, repacks drive seals and pumps as assigned.
• Trouble shoots electrical, electronic problems with pump station controls and makes repairs as assigned.
• Performs daily, weekly and monthly sewage pump station checks as assigned.
• Performs daily operational checks and complete logs to ensure proper operation of pump stations and equipment as assigned.
• Directs traffic and spot for the safety of co-workers.
• Cut grass on wellfield right of ways and pump stations as assigned.
• Repairs pump station buildings and maintenance complex buildings as assigned.
• Responds to emergency calls after hours and on weekends.
• Performs related work as required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
Physical Demands:

• Performs medium work that involves walking, standing, stooping, jumping, lifting, digging, pushing and raising objects and also involves exerting between 20 and 50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50 to 100 pounds of force on an occasional basis.

Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment):

• Involves routine and frequent exposure to:
  • Bright/dim light; Dusts and pollen.
  • Extreme heat and/or cold; Wet or humid conditions.
  • Extreme noise levels, Animals/wildlife.
  • Vibration; Fumes and/or noxious odors.
  • Traffic; Moving machinery.
  • Electrical shock; Heights.
  • Radiation; Disease/pathogens.
  • Toxic/caustic chemicals; Explosives; Violence.

Special Certifications and Licenses:

• Requires ability to obtain Grade 1 Collection Certification.
• Must possess and maintain an appropriate, valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE & SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Requires High School graduation or GED equivalent and six (6) months of experience providing manual labor, minor repairs, operating light or heavy equipment or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
