Veterinary Extern - General Practice

Westside Pet Hospital Westside Pet Hospital is a two‑DVM small animal practice located in Redding, CA. The clinic focuses on dentistry and provides care for a variety of species, including exotic reptiles, birds, and small mammals. Externship Overview Externs will work closely with supervising Associate Veterinarians to gain experience in: Gathering patient histories Performing physical exams Creating treatment plans Performing diagnostics Providing dentistry services Observing and assisting in surgical procedures Managing medical care of patients Program Details Most externships range from two to eight weeks, depending on student and hospital schedules. Externships are offered to 3rd and 4th‑year veterinary students who are in the clinical portion of their education. Eligible students receive a travel and living expense stipend. Stipend amounts and program details are available on the application portal. Benefits The externship includes mentorship from experienced veterinarians and exposure to a diverse caseload, including urgent and orthopedic cases.
