(internet, telephone, home office setup, etc.).Position Overview:The Attendance Specialist is responsible for tracking, verifying, and maintaining accurate student attendance records in a virtual learning environment. This role supports compliance with state attendance requirements and school policies while working closely with teachers, families, and administrative staff to ensure student engagement and accountability. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, responsive, and comfortable working with digital systems.Essential Position ResponsibilitiesAttendance Monitoring & RecordkeepingMonitor and record daily student attendance using the school’s Student Information System (SIS)Verify attendance through virtual engagement indicators (logins, participation, assignment submission, instructional engagement, etc.)Monitor instructional engagement in accordance with virtual attendance requirementsMaintain accurate, complete, and up-to-date attendance records in compliance with school, state, and federal guidelinesEnsure compliance with compulsory attendance laws and state reporting requirementsReview and reconcile attendance discrepancies in collaboration with teachers and school staffGenerate attendance reports for administrators, support staff, and compliance purposesIdentify attendance trends, chronic absenteeism concerns, and at-risk students for escalation and interventionFamily Communication & Student SupportFollow up with students and families regarding absences, tardiness, truancy concerns, and required documentationRespond to attendance-related inquiries from staff and families in a timely and professional mannerCommunicate attendance expectations, policies, and intervention plans clearly with familiesSupport student re-engagement efforts aimed at improving attendance and reducing withdrawal riskAttendance Review Committee (ARC) & Truancy ProcessesServe as the primary campus point of contact for attendance compliance and truancy processesCoordinate, schedule, and document Attendance Review Committee (ARC) meetings and truancy intervention meetingsMaintain accurate documentation of attendance interventions, parent communication attempts, meeting outcomes, and required compliance recordsPrepare attendance documentation and supporting records for administrative review and compliance auditsSupport truancy prevention processes and ensure required timelines and documentation are completed in accordance with school and state requirementsTrack intervention plans and follow-up actions resulting from attendance meetingsCollaborationCollaborate with teachers to confirm student participation and resolve attendance discrepanciesPartner with administrators, counselors, educational concierges, and support teams to improve student attendance outcomesWork collaboratively with campus and district staff to ensure consistent implementation of attendance procedures and compliance expectationsRequired Skills, Knowledge, and AbilitiesPreferred SkillsStrong attention to detail and organizational skillsComfortable working with Student Information Systems (e.g., Ascender or similar)Strong written and verbal communication skillsAbility to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a remote or fast-paced environmentDemonstrated ability to communicate clearly, professionally, and empathetically with parents/guardians regarding student attendance concerns and interventionsEducation & Certification RequirementsHigh school diploma or equivalent requiredBachelors preferred5 years experience working in a school setting, student records, experience in student records management or administrative support preferredNotice: Employment with Innovative Network of Knowledge will be on an at-will basis.
