Clinician Educator / Investigator - #Faculty

The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine Department of Pediatrics seeks a Clinician Educator and a Clinician Investigator to join the Division of Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine faculty as Assistant or Associate Professor.

The clinician-educator with GME interest and experience will provide direct outpatient primary and subspecialty care and teach residents and fellows in the multidisciplinary Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine (AYAM) teaching clinic and the inpatient consultation service. For this position, 80% of the time will be devoted to serving as the fellowship training program director, delivering clinical services, and teaching and supervising trainees in clinical practice.

The clinician investigator will devote a significant portion of their effort to developing or sustaining their research portfolio to produce scholarship and develop competitive grant applications. In addition, they will proactively collaborate with the clinician-scientists in the Division of Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine as a part of our team science model. They will also serve as a Faculty Physician in Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine. This includes clinical service in the Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine practice as a preceptor and subspecialty service provider, service as the consulting physician and overseeing fellow consultants for local/state contracts, and inpatient consultation on-call service shared with the other Adolescent/Young Adult Medicine faculty members.

Academic support for both roles includes access to a wide range of career development, educational leadership, and program development. In addition, all faculty receive a standard competitive benefits package, office space, a networked computer, 25 hours of epidemiological and biostatistics research consultation services each year, and a robust tuition remission program with access to the Johns Hopkins Bloomberg School of Public Health and the Institute for Excellence in Education for ongoing training, professional development, and collaboration. The candidate must be BC/BE in Adolescent Medicine and be interested in working with adolescents and young adults with those from underserved communities. Applicants with clinical or research interest and expertise in general adolescent medicine, sexual and reproductive health services broadly applied; addiction medicine, eating disorders, and chronic fatigue and related syndromes are encouraged to apply.

There is tremendous support for clinical, research, and educational mentorship within the Division and related disciplines to optimize faculty development. The successful candidate will work with a well-established clinician investigator and educators within the Division. The faculty will also train residents and fellows in our long-established ACGME-accredited training programs.

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor or Osteopathic Medicine Required

  • Board Certified or Board Eligible by the American Board of Pediatrics.

  • Successful completion of applicable fellowship.

  • Current and unrestricted licensure in the State of Maryland required, prior to beginning the position.

  • At least 5 years of clinical experience.

Salary: $140,000 - $210,000

Salary Range

The referenced salary range represents the minimum and maximum salaries for this position and is based on Johns Hopkins University's good faith belief at the time of posting. Not all candidates will be eligible for the upper end of the salary range. The actual compensation offered to the selected candidate may vary and will ultimately depend on multiple factors, which may include the successful candidate's geographic location, skills, work experience, internal equity, market conditions, education/training and other factors, as reasonably determined by the University.

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Blood tests for immunities to these diseases are ordinarily included in the pre-employment physical exam except for those employees who provide results of blood tests or immunization documentation from their own health care providers. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
